How are the graphics

Hi, I was thinking of trying the trial.  I've never played this before and don't know much about it.  I like playing casters and heard this game offers the best varieties in terms of not having to play a cookie cutter caster.  My concearn is how are the graphics?  Are the dated and hard to adjust to after playing many of the newer games?  Is the game soooo much fun that the graphics won't matter?  Guess I'm just looking for your opinions on the subject.

I posted a bunch of screens before, but it is buried somewhere on here so I will post some more.  If you are impressed by cartoons, then this is not the game for you.  If you like EQ 2 graphics, and we will say that is a 10, then DAOC is 8.5.  Most of these are old, and are not necessarily the best images to show and are slightly compressed, but these will give you an idea of how the game looks.

To the OP, some of the graphics are very nice, especially when running the Labyrinth of the Minotaur client.  Sadly, if you run the free trial client, it does not have all those graphical changes.  As far as environment graphics, DAOC is on par with most other games.  Characters are actually excellent if you turn all the graphical options up, but many people do not.  Many of the caster animations and graphics I think are really cool.  Although I don't recommend you play a toon for looks, I always loved the look of Wizard fireballs and their point blank area effect.

You can update the trail graphics by donwloading catacombs for free.

thanks, I'm downloading the catacombs as we speak.  the graphics are not bad, a little dated but if the game play is good they're overcomable.  I can't find any anti aliasing so if you know how to set that that info would help.

Dark age of camelot have come along way since its release date of 01 until now and the graphics have gotten alot better here is some links of the old daoc and the new daoc but I would recommend if you rvr don't try to run at full grapics you will lag like crazy im in japan on fiber optical and I still like a little when running with all my graphics off. Also they just updated there UI alot where alot people dont really like I just dont like the new style icons it made it very hard to find styles .

Nice PIC's, you obviosley have anti-aliasing.  Can you tell me where to set it?  I hope this isn't a game where I just get interested and they shut it down for loss of subscribers

I don't really thing they will ever shut it down until warhammer is release they are still added updates to the game as we speak but since this is your first time playing the game I would recommend playing on the classic servers Gareth, Lamorak or Movilk and just find a caster that you really like and go from there there are alot of casters in this game. But what do you mean where to set it up?

I do have AA, but it is not turned on.  Or rather, I have it set to application controlled.  I would not worry about it being canceled just yet.  While I am sure WAR will be a big hit, that won't be out until March or so of next year.  Further, I think it will be significantly different from DAOC such that many DAOC players will stick with DAOC.  Add on to that, if some "combo" offer is given, DAOC might actually pick up some subscribers. 

I doubt it will be around forever, but it will continue to be supported for a few more years.  Worse case scenario would be 18 months or so but I am thinking longer.  Ultima Online is still around after all.

What I meant was where in the video options do you turn anti-aliasing on.  I didn't see it in the options menu.

Sorry there aren't any.  If you want AA on you will need to do so from your graphics card options and not from the game.
