Is the server always this unstable?

...or was the last patch just a lemon?

Server implosions seem to be happening every couple days since the last patch.   Status quo or run of "bad luck"?

this has been status quo for some time

just stick around - it doesn't get any better (despite the constant comments from devs about optimizations and "new" equipment)

I dunno, I've been playing since the end of May, and I've only seen one other day like this since then.  (though have heard of more).  Kind of a nusance, but heck, its late here, and I should get up to bed.

I don't know what your talking about man . EVE has been pretty good as far as stability, unless your weird and spend most of your time in Jita or those large 300 man fleet battles.

  • METALDRAG0NMETALDRAG0N Member Posts: 1,680

Dont know what your on about had no problems of stability for a month at least

Perhaps as was mentioned bfore it is your line have you checked with your service provider

Stability hm the Cluster Server who EVE O is on is realy stable.

Most of the errors is the line to the server cluster one thing CCP cant

do anything about thats up to your ISP provider to sort out .

Depends where you are in EVE, there are "laggspots" such as Motsu, Jita. If your in a populated area and your getting lagg (more then 50 in system) you should consider moving.

As for server implosions, thats just ragoon and bob.

I run Eve Mon and it notifies me of the server status. It's actually gone haywire on me quite often over the last few months. And no, it isn't my Internet connection, no it isn't my ISP.

Get new computers people. I've been playing this game since beta and even since then I have maybe been disconnected half a dozen times. One of the most stable MMOs I've ever played.

  • baffbaff Member Posts: 9,457

    LMAO I have 12 computers.

I didn't get a new computer, I got a new game. And guess what? it worked! No more disconnects.

This is absolutely the least stable MMO on the market. You don't get to have the highest ever conconcurrent players in one server online with out overloading your equipment from time to time. Let alone repeatadly beat that record, stretching the boundaries of network technology again and again. Other games finsihed there server stress tests in Beta. Job done. Complete. Every day is a new server load test for Eve. Beta never ended.

Usually the server instability comes directly after a patch and remains until hotfixed. The same pattern is found in many games, but Eve suffers from it a lot more due to the ambitious nature of their server.

They patch on Fridays so your whole weekends play can be horrible.

When everyone playing disconnects every 45 minutes, it's not your computer it's the server. No amount of Virus scanning or reformating your hard drive is going to change anything.

I keep hearing this... yet I have never had a disconnect since I have started... Some odd months ago

  • baffbaff Member Posts: 9,457

If you keep hearing it, there is probably a reason why.

Perhaps it hasn't been enlarging it's playerbase or getting many updates recently? I wouldn't know.

Anyway always good to hear people are enjoying it without any frustrating issues. My sympathies to those that are, I know the feeling.

Did you check your service provider that sometimes causes problems. And i too have yet to have this problem of yours in my whole time ive been playing eve.

    CCP was my service provider.

I checked with them, yes. Everyone else checked with them too. Only they weren't in the office. They go home for the weekends so a bad patch fudges it for the weekly primetime.

Never got round to logging back in and seeing if they ever fixed it. They used  to release hotfixes during the early part of the next week after patches. I'm sure they fixed that particular issue. I'm sure they have had more since too. That wasn't the first one by any means, just the worst one in my time with Eve and the only one frustrating enough to persuade me to switch off the game.

well actually if you play on pacific time i get server crashes alot at least once a week and if you go on the eve forums lotsa people have the same and i hang out in near deserted 0.0 areas

    my isp is fine

my comp can run COH without crashing so i assume its the servers

    I must be blessed.

    *knocks on wood*

Over the last month I've had a single minor desynch issue that fixed itself, a couple of disconnects that were solved by simply logging back in and a handful of brief moments of lag. Except for the desynch issue, this is comparable to what I experience in WoW or any other MMO for that matter.

Keep in mind that I often play 2 or sometimes 3 accounts at the same time in EVE, which puts me at a higher risk of experiencing server caused instability. I have not participated in fleet battles, but I do go to Jita every now and then. The times I've been to Jita, I've seen between 300 to 600 people in local. Other than taking some time to jump in and out of Jita, I have not experienced a whole lot of lag there, much to my surprise. Sure, I wouldn't want to take unnecessary risks by running missions there or engage in PvP, but flying in, out or through Jita has been trouble free.

I hope my luck continues like this, especially considering that there's a major patch coming up tomorrow which could really make or break things in terms of server performance and stability.

I'm a big ol' fluffy carewolf. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

WoW CCP as your service provider cool!!!

Well mine is British Telecom so i guess i just lucked out.

Heres a thought Perhaps when i say service provider im on about the people who provide you with your INTERNET CONNECTION

Im sorry not trying to flame yo but sometimes the reason you drop out of a game is because of a connection failure somewhere between you and CCP's servers thats what i was on about. I just found it funny that you called CCP a service provider.

Played a few hours almost every day for the last six weeks and not a single drop.  Seems very reliable so far.

I used to visit this site a lot however in recent years it has become the home of negative forum posts, illogical opinions and tantrums so I visit less often.

    Played or Beta'd: UO / DAOC / Horizons / EQ2 / DDO / EVE / Archlord / PirateKingsOnline / Tabula Rasa / LOTRO / AOC / Champions / Darkfall / Mortal Online / DCUO / Rift / STO / SWTOR / TSW

I'm sorry but CCP NEVER patches on a friday, they patch midweek ALWAYS, unless it's an emergency hotfix.
