Why i leave this game, again!

smek1975smek1975 Member UncommonPosts: 73

Hi all.

After 3 mounth i wanted to give Vanguard another try, installing it, renewing my acc ect ect

The world was still wery nice but the fps loss killed it all,  i did all the tweaks on the forums and it helped abit, but not to a saticfied lvl, my fps was around 40-60 but the heavy lag spices destoyed the hole feeling in the game!.

Im running the game on a fairly computer Pentium dual core 4mb, 2giga ram, Geforce 8800gts

No point of making a good game if its not able to run for all,

poor peformance rating = less players, less players = less money, less money = less workers for the company, less workers = less maitience, less maitence = even more less players, less players = Death!!!

Unbeliveble the "BIG CORP COMPANYS" didnt figure that out yet!!!

btw...sorry my poor spelling

8800gts is the problem probably, Vanguard doesn't like it at all. Could be more of a driver issue, though it's likely SOE and Nvidia will have to meet in the middle over it.

Sorry but, i m using a 8800 gts, and i had little to no bugs with the max setting, I left anyway after 2 month from lack of population tho.

I have new gaming rig as well with an 8800gts and vista and this game ran like absolute ass for me. Though at times when the FPS were smooth it looked amazing on my 24' monitor but most of the time I would get in-game freezes, serious FPS drops, and a load of graphical anomalies. I thought nah i'll be patient and wait for a fix but then I realized I was paying $15 a month for the game that performed horribly and decided to quit. I did like the game though, just wished it was more polished and more people played.

Yes for every "it runs fine" there seems to be 3 more "it runs badly", now I know that people tend to post the bad news more than the good but I think it's clear now that Vanguard does have performance issues. SOE seem to be getting there with them though, OP have you tried changing the texture settings in the ini file to the low memory versions?

Sorry your return wasn't enjoyable.  For some reason, VG hates 8800 cards.  Worse yet Vista and 8800 is a disaster.  I'll be the first to admit, one shouldn't have to fiddle with their hardware to get it to work with a game.  However, I've zeroed my 8800 in so that I don't hitch or crash and get very nice FPS.  Beta drivers, UseEfficientTextures and some setting fiddling did the trick.  Very, very stable now.

You know, and this is NOT a flame, but maybe a suggestion.  I realize many that come and announce why they leave a game may have some deep seeded, spiritual effect on them. However, it does nothing for the rest of us.  I suggest if you are upset about this game's performance and feel the need to vent your anger, first check the forums for similar feelings.

By making these, now very tiresome and trite statements, nothing is really being accomplished or shared, but your pain and remorse.

    Please spare me these emotions...

I have seen it read, and felt it all too often.  It just doesn't matter to me much any more.  I think I'd rather watch a rerun of Mayberry RFD than have to generate a response to "Why I'm Leaving the Game..."

Alyndale: can I suggest that you restrict yourself to the official forums please. These are forums for everybody including people who may not yet have tried the game or those who are thinking of coming back.

Now the truth may be painful but when Brad said the game needed another 3 months he was obviously being - lets leave it at wildly optimistic shall we (the alternatives being ignorant or dishonest - ignorant I buy btw but not dishonest).

If SoE get the CTDs, bugs, broken quests, unfinished content, memory leaks, database issue not to mention chunking fixed inside a year they will be doing well. And the op did not have an fps problem directly but clunking - caused by the game trying to grab info it assumes it needs presumably etc. The two can - probably are - linked of course.

The reason i posted this thread was my fouths on the lack of bugfixing, i tryed it before and it was kinda still the same, did all the ini tweaks ect ect.

Im not crying about my 1 mounth  xtra supscription, im just updating others that its the same old story, whats wrong with that? imo nothing, my hope is really the do something about this, but that not gonna happen b4 the end of the year

IMO only reason Vanguard flopped is the lack of normal computer playable! its a great game but everyone knows thats not the case!

now im waiting on Pirates :) and maybe some conan!

Also tried it again sometime ago, and performance was actually worse for me with a 8800 GTX.

So I gave up again and went back to EQ2.

This game runs absolutely perfect for me, max settings, all graphics up full, biggest resolution on a 7950 with 1.5 gigs of RAM.

I disagree strongly. Another person bearing witness to the poor nature of this game might prevent another potential player from wasting their money on an unfinished, bug-ridden, dull, and uninspiring product. As long as we pay for beta products, MMO publishers will continue to believe they are acceptable to the public. And we all suffer.

So, everybody agrees, VG still is almost the same crap it was at launch day. Where are the optimists who said "this game has potential, give it 6 months!"

Well I played beta.  Then I played after release for about 2 months.  I stopped playing to check out some other games.  Then I resubbed about 2 months ago.

The game has never run so poorly for me that it was an absolute nightmare.  Of course I do have a QA job for MMO's so its kind of hard to drive me to that point anyway.  However, it never ran perfect but again it wasn't even bad enough to be annoying for me.

I quit again mostly due to the fact that its lost its luster for me.  Lack of folks playing.  Too much drama surrounding the game.  The players really F'ed this game up just as bad as the DEV's did.

Either way.  I really wanted this game to work out but in the end it just didn't and I'm ok with that.  The MMORPG market is looking pretty boring and full of mass marketed crap right now anyway.

Money focused companies have begun their reign and they will slowly drain the MMO market of any great new games until people finely get fed up.

As far as I'm concerned the MMORPG market is dead to me and I'm just gonna have to sit and wait for the second coming.
