Do a lot of people still play EQ2? will i be able to find a group easily? and do you think more people play this than FFXI Online?

well i just regot it with 2 months free offer they had on my old account so far grouping is ok seems to be alot of players login in alot but i get really bored with it fast lol...lucky for me im not paying for it for 2 months..
EQ2 is a pretty healthy game with a solid player base...but to compare it to FFXI which is apples and oranges in a way. FFXI appeals to the asian crowd which boosts its population tons. They are not in the same league when it comes to population, however, you can't play on multiple servers at once so you will never experience all of the people. There are some servers in EQ2 that are very healthy.
FFXI is also available on PC, PS2, Xbox360
Heres some population stats from the demographic sites. They are supposed to be pretty close.
EQ2 - Peaked 330k people Feb 05
Current - 173k June 07
FFXI - Peaked 650k May 05
Current - 500k
If you are looking to start EQ2 and are worried about the player base, I wouldn't be. Its very healthy with a good core. My only complaint with EQ2, I just found there wasn't much communication., groups in early levels weren't extremely easy for me to find. It felt a tad lonely in game. However, this is only my experience ( ive resubbed twice), perhaps its just not my personal cup of tea.

I can't find any recent info on EQ2 population.
Was that the offer i am hearing because you had purchased vanguard? and they offerd this sort of compensation to you? If so why have me, my m8 (online) and 1 other never seen this sort of offer or is it an offer that the US players have had?
Me ever since VG i havent touched EQ2 because i just felt that VG was a complete rip off and regret buying a half finished and buggy game. I had doubts before with SoE, but EQ2 was slowly pulling me back (even after its problems) i had returned to it 2 or 3 times after some decent game updates, but after VG i darnt touch another SoE tagged game until 1-2 months after release with some very favourable reports (70% and upwards) any lower and it would be classed as unfavourable in my opinion.
Eq2 still needs more population for all that content it is offering.FFxi definetely had more people but it was also so forced grouping and in FFxi some hours arent easy to group especially japanese hours (they rarely talked to english speaking players,although i managed to group with some of them ).
