Quest based MMOs?

Hi I was wondering if there are any MMOs that instead of grinding for levels you do quests that follows a storyline for exp. Kind of like GW and PW. Any suggestions?

Lord of the Rings Online is the most quest based MMO I know.  Try it out

Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.

I don't think you can fill games below a ''quest based'' section. What we mainly use is level/skill based games, or the so called ''grind'' games. As it seems you have already played Guild Wars, I can only suggest some singleplayer games liked Titan Quest or Fable to you.

I would have to agree with us.

There are "main quests" which are instanced and can be very fun, and then there are "regular" quests such as someone was kidnapped and you have to rescue them, something was stolen and you have to find it, food is needed please kill boars, etc.

Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."

I'd say a good 75-85% of your XP in LotRO actually comes from completing quests rather than just 'killing xp'... You get a few hundred for killing tough things but a few thousand usually for finishing a quest.  Also if you enjoy role playing with other people while questing I'd suggest the server Landroval.

The same can be said of WoW and EQ2 as well. All three (including LoTRO) are fine games with short and long/ongoing quest arcs. The challenge is you gotta care, and quite a few do not.

If you're looking for story in a fantasy setting, LoTRO would be your best bet. If you're looking for something non-Tolkien though, definitely WoW, particularly if you plan to get deeply into the lore by reading the books too. They're not going to win literary awards, but they complete the world in the same way that reading all the Tolkien stuff completes that world.
