I have played various MMO's but I have yet to play DAoC to any long extent. Its recently peaked my attention, well because I've tried just about everything that interests me.
DAoC is the only MMO right now that as far as class-level based gaming goes, I can see enjoying whats offered. My question is this: Are the RP servers dying?
I enjoy gaming but I prefer to play on a RP server at all times, just my taste. From what I have seen from the DAoC website, the numbers are quite low on the RP cluster. Are they generally that low, do they get better at different times? Are there any good guilds in the RP cluster? Is it to late for me to start playing, only to see it go the way of DDO with server merges and possible closure due to lack of subscribers?
I am willing to try it, but as a Casual gamer, I'd hate to see my limited time wasted if this is not possible.
Many thanks,
Souvec

I am currently playing DAoC. RP servers are dead. Only servers with decent activity are the classic ones which are combined together for a bigger population. Havnt seen any RPing on these servers at all. I can say though I am enjoying myself quite a bit. still alot of RvR action. Not as much as it used to be but still fun nontheless.
Thank you for the insight.
RP, in any game, is not very popular. The RP servers in DAOC certainly are very low so if RP is a must, then you are not going to be happy. There are good guilds there and I am sure they can be very useful. The main issue is that there are not enough people to RvR with on those servers. There are other places to play besides classic where you will find plenty of people playing during prime time. Servers are put together in groups called clusters. You can still create characters on each server and you login on that server, but everything expect for housing is shared. So it is "mostly merged." The best times for the most people are any server are between 6 pm eastern and 2 am eastern.
