Starting over on New Server

Who out there will be starting over on the New Server Verdantine when it opens up in June? Or is anyone planning on coming back or joining for the first time when that even happens?

Lets try a poll and see?

I'll be sticking to Harvestgain. Too much time invested already in toons there. Not enough time to rebuild new set.

It does appear that many will be coming back to play on the new server as well. Some indicate that they are waiting for the expansion pack. That'll be a year or more though.

Good luck on the new server. image

I'm coming back to AC to play on the new server. All of the new gaems out there can't seem to keep my attention like AC did. I think that I'll d/l the game tonight from Fileplanet and roll up a character to get a feel for the game again before the new server opens.

www.thejackcat.com/ac is still up lots of reading and info on all that has changed in game.

I agreee on what you said about AC. I have a rather short attention span, so I don't end up playing anything for long. I've been play AC for going on 3 years now with no end in sight.

I'm coming back to AC for the new server...  I invested a lot on LC but I figure I've been gone so long that my toons must have all been deleted by now... so why not start fresh in a new world?

Find, you may find your chars still there. They only ever did the one wipe .

So, perhaps good practice before that new server opens up. Just need to remember your login information and you are there!

For a glimpse into Verdantine's future, look at the community on Wintersebb. Verdantine will become just another powerlevelers world.

Having been away from AC for 3-4 years now I've come to the conclusion it's a power lvlers game...  However, on the new server, theres still going to be those first weeks, maybe months, where everyone is soloing/grouing with their first toons...  All low lvl, no buff bots, no VII spells...  I'm sure the power lvlin will come once people start to recruit for allegences, but such is the way of things.  I've tried many MMO since AC1 but after all is said and played I'll be back to my fav in a day or two.  (As soon as I find my CD key or break down and buy it again.)

Wait for expansion if you can.. it will most likely bring ac into the 21st century... lol.. graphicly and idealy speaking... not that its going to be like second life.. It is going to come out EARLY 2005... like jan-earl march probably.. and if you dont wanna be a carebear.. wait for new pk server.. should be up when expansions out.. or before.

I bought a CD key and I'm waiting for the new server to go up before I start playing again, didn't want to bother playing on any of the other servers. I wonder how many other people are like me, it'll be interesting to see how much the over all population goes up.

I think AC just needs an update as far as graphics are concerned. It is an addictive game. Any special feature with the new server or is it just another server? Like everquest has the Legends server is this going to be something like that?

I started playing again this week and plan on moving to the new server. I'm hoping coming back to AC will make me excited about playing games again since all the other games i've tried have been crap.

As you may or may not know AC1 IS getting a new graphics engine sometime in 2005.

As for the server, nope no new features and nothing like a legends server. However, since it's a fresh server it will be free of "macroed" characters which people have come to dislike.

Just to clarify, AC1 is not getting a new graphics engine, they are getting a graphics update :) Turbine

Turbine Green Lights AC Expansion Pack
    posted on 13-Apr-2004

WESTWOOD, Mass. – April 13, 2004 –Turbine Entertainment Software Corp. today announced that fans of the award-winning 3D massively multiplayer online role playing game Asheron’s Call® (AC) will receive a new expansion pack in early 2005. Available for the PC, the latest AC installment will offer fresh challenges to experienced players while welcoming new gamers to the colorful and exciting fantasy world of Dereth.

“When Turbine first created Asheron’s Call we knew the game would be exciting, but we couldn’t have imagined it would have such an overwhelming following of dedicated players,” said Jeffrey Anderson, president and CEO, Turbine Entertainment Software. “This expansion is a great way to say ‘thank you’ to all of the AC1 players. They are the reason that AC will remain a popular and exciting online role playing game for a long time to come.”

The Asheron’s Call expansion pack is the first video game completely self-published by Turbine Entertainment Software. In addition, this project will be the first title developed in the company’s new West Coast Studio located in Santa Monica, Calif. The expansion pack will be the third installment in the original AC series, following the launch of Asheron’s Call in 1999 and the Asheron’s Call: Dark Majesty® expansion published in 2001.

    Key Expansion Pack Features

    · Graphics Upgrade: A substantial upgrade of Turbine’s first generation graphics engine, the Turbine Engine®, which serves as the backbone to Asheron’s Call. The upgrade is expected to more than double the original texture size, resulting in more detailed characters, creatures and landscapes. Most importantly, the improvements won’t significantly impact performance, allowing robust play even on lower-end machines.

    · New Elder Game: An intricate and involved strategic resource and land control system that will allow players to compete for enhanced skills and town ownership. Through a new land-raid system, players will also be able to invade other allegiance’s territory and attempt to plunder the opposition’s resources, skills and abilities.

In addition to these key features, there will be many new stories, monsters and hours of additional game play. Turbine also plans to support the expansion’s release with a new story arc promoted through in-game episodic content. This approach will further build upon the massive amounts of existing content by providing new and exciting story lines and adventures. Turbine will release further details about the new chapter – such as the complete feature set – in future announcements. Additional information about the Asheron’s Call video games can be found online at http://ac.turbinegames.com.

I'm back after a short hiatus. Hopefully I'll get a little bit of enjoyment from verdantine. It should at least be somewhat interesting.

Heh not surpirsed.  I love AC so much but....I just cant stand bots and all that other junk.  Trading BOTS are SO ANNOYING!!!

Why is AC the lazy man's game???

I love the tinkering in this system.  No real crafting at all which is a real downside.

I love the character specialization and attributes and being able to respecalize your characters.

I started playing AC a day ago and was like this is going to be great but atm im new to the new server and have no friends so Im moving very slowly....towards the exit lol.  Nah its a great game just disapointed in some of the community players.

Qualibar used to be the place for trading and getting to know ppl.  That changed into trading bots thrown inside subway causing lag every time some one goes there.

Im just a little disapointed that is all.  An expansion would really help this game live.  And not just new land! with more XP to be gained and more PHAT LEWTS.  Im talking skills, crafting, and graphics!  Also I loved the quest system in AC 2.  That was the best attribute of AC 2 that I loved.  That and its graphics.

I really hope Turbine turns this game around and give it some more quality.  It already has what most RGP'ers are looking for in a game.  Cant they give em the rest?
