The Divide.

Level's in games put a divide in the community,a minority high levels look down upon lower levels. All because of a number. They dont see the player, They only see the number and sum up that there an idiot and they have no need to listen to them, Even if a low level said hi they would be ignored. I wonder what causes this mental thinking. In a MMO named Face of Mankind. There were no Levels only ranks which granted you more abilitys in your faction. The leader of the faction I was in,had no idea how to fight(It was a MMOFPS) yet everyone followed him into a war against other factions.

I personally sometimes do this, I dont like doing it and I really dont know why.

That depends upon how you play.  The only divide it creates is that a low level player cannot venture into the same areas as a higher level.  Any sort of bias based on levels is purely a personal decision based on experience with newer players or just egotistical reasons.

Yes, a number.  Also all of the experience, time, and effort associated with that number.  Unless the lower character is an alt .  A lot of this bias comes from dealing with players who primarily ask questions.  It is fun to interact with someone your own level because they usually have a similar understanding of mechanics.  Usually lower level players want advice, tips, or handouts from a higher level player.  This creates a divide after that action repeats and higher level players get frustrated.

I have no idea what this part of your post means.  You played a game which had a leader who couldn't fight?  Was this because that player wasn't good, or was the lead unable to participate?  Also, MMOFPS games probably face similar things since newer players will often ask older ones the ropes.

I interact with lower levels frequently. I'll either help them out a little now and then, show off a bit, answer questions, or join them with an alt.

Low level players are the bottom-dwelling scum of any MMORPG and I pay a pittance to mid-level peasants to wash my boot-heels of them, after I have trampled them with my awesomeness.

Take heed, low level / skill players:  Molest me not with your insignificant existance, your avatars are not fit for rendering on my screen, and I would filter your presence out completely if I could.

Now I need to take a shower after just thinking about them!

Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...

The OP brings up a very intresting subject for me personally. I do indeed find myself ignored by the higher level players in pretty much any mmo, and it does indeed provoke a sense that you are scum in that world as far as everyone else is concerned.

Its not a real big deal overall, but its just intresting that people act that way in a game.

I played Face of mankind myself at one point, very intresting game I will say that much, completely diffrent from anything out in the market right now. I would play it if their were more players but that game did an excellent if not close to perfect job of uniting the player society toghether.
