Yes, the game will be released in the end of June, the betatest is running since March. Beta 2 has begun on May 17 and with the account that you can win you will join it.
No and I think it worked PERFECTLY with closed beta.. i have never seen bugs beeing corrected and game balanced in such a speed.. Duplex worked hard day and night consulting the problems with closed beta community.. They had to solve economical problems, mining and fighting.. and i think this is much better solved with a community that is closed and where they kno each other and so.. dont fear, the game will be great
i am rather sceptical to a (what seems) early release but you never know what will happen or how it looks like but it seems rather strange that if they don't have an open beta because the first days there will be a lot of people playing and you don't know if your servers can hold that.
One day all will die, surely you but never I.

More than anything, open beta is usually for a game's promotion. If the developers and publishers think the game is good, they have an open beta to bring up the hype and even hook the player into buying the game afterwards. Word of mouth works wonders in MMORPGs when people hear the words "open beta".
On the other hand, if a game is full of bugs and the publishers realize that they are going to release the product regardless, they forgo an open beta and hope that consumers will buy the product based on game features and advertising as was the case with SWG.
