While the data in the chart may ultimately be true, I am dubious as to its source material. Very few people actually are given real IQ tests (the kind that are administered by people who know what they're doing), and not many take any sort of IQ test at all. The list reminded me of that list I saw that rated the IQ of various US presidents -- I wondered how in the world they obtained their data, just as I do with the above chart.
I know very few people who have ever had a IQ test administered to them, two to be exact.
/sarcasm on
That being said I'm certain every high IQ from the "high IQ" states voted for Kerry, while every low IQ from the "low IQ' states voted for Bush... and everyone who had those IQ tests administered and documented, voted...
/sarcasm off
your plan may have worked though, you may have swayed the lower IQ individuals into believing the politician of choice won due to the IQ scores in certain states.

As someone who has taken a REAL IQ test, I can tell you that they aren't worthless...there was a very real difference in the intelligence between the people in my advanced classes (those who had also taken IQ tests and were found to be of high intelligence) and those in my regular classes. Not just a trivial "I know fun facts" difference either, but an emotional and mechanical difference in how they conducted themselves.
That all being said, this poll is worthless. They couldn't possibly have administered real IQ tests to a significant enough portion of the voting population in order to gain an accurate measurement.
Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.
To make it easier they could just administer IQ tests to John Kerry and George Bush, something tells me that Bush would back down and call MENSA a Satan worshippers cult.

I wasnt serious when i posted this it was sortof a rebelion post against the new but now no longer existing religious and political rule ... but carry on ...
I wasn't trying to imply you were being serious (don't know about the others). I didn't think you were. However, I have seen charts like this used with serious intent in various informal debates. It was... disturbing.
Not taking sides, but that chart probably has no true merit. But if the charts are real, those states really need to do something, i think <80 is bordering retarded, and 70 and below is officially retarded.
The new IQ test(s) that were released some years ago, do work to some degree. Of course they don't suggest they can determine a person's 'smarts' 100%. I think most people have a common misconception with IQ tests they see on the net, and ones adminstered by real psychologists.

I laughed so hard!
