STOP argueing about WoW and WAR

Half the threads I read these days are about how WAR copied WoW or vice versa!  Honestly is it that big of a deal?  Dont waste your breath argueing about it, you wont change eachothers minds.  People are going to think whatever they want to think, and argueing with them wont change that

I think WoW looks like War and Starcraft looks like Warhammer 40k.

Blizzard ripped ideas off gamesworkshop, but gamesworkshop is just a big tolkien rippoff anyhow. And because of blizzards success with a mmorpg, gamesworkshop and rippoffed them back by making a WoW clone. WoW wasn't a rippoff of blizzard really because yeah they stole some very generic fantasy storylines but they came up with all the big ideas and mechanics that made it a succes, gamesworkshop wasn't even in the computer games industry.

anyhow I think I just pwned the whole arguement.

    not really.

warhammer orks and gobos are nothing like Tolkien Orcs and goblins. Appearance, demeanor, history, nothing.

Warcraft ripped of warhammer art style almost exactly... The history and demeanor were different.

You need to do some research if you think WAR is anything like WoW. They are vastly different games with different mechanics. What twists everyones garters is the similar art style. Again warcraft clearly stole this from warhammer. You can't even argue this fact.

While warhammer does not make computer games... there have been numerous computer games made in the warhammer and 40K universe long before WoW came out.

I'm sorry... do you even know anything about warhammer?

And half the threads i read these days are about Stop comparing WAR to WoW or vice versa... its just as irritating and pointless to be honest. Anyone who has looked into both games know the only real comparison is the graphics.

Thank you gman2100 for another one of these threads

To help clrear the air here a bit ill post some Games Workshop [tabletop] facts.

    - When warhammer was origonally created in 1985 they BASED there origonal lore and art style off severall sources. These sourses being, Tolkien , D&D and those adventure books that were once very popular [in fact i think one of the founding members of Citadel minitures a part of games workshop was a Writer of those books].

-Tolkien orks are dirt brown or dirty grey and roughly man sized  in appearence and have a farly complex underground culture. Waarhammer orks Are dark to light green and larger than a man and have a clan based culture above ground.

    - There first Warhammer based game i can think of is Shadow of the horned Rat [released 1995 in conjunction with Mindscape] It was considered by many of that time to be al largly ignored inovative game.

The following facts will now be based on the game Warhammer 40k and its 'Similaritys' to Starcraft another Blizzard game.

    - Warhammer 40k was first created in 1887.

    - One of its Races called the Space marine/imperial guard is a human based race with its marine members wearing bulky power armour similar to what you see in the human race in Starcraft. Also the human race in Warhammer 40k was run in an empire structure with an emporer running things.

    - One of the other races is called the Eldar They are an advanced alien race whos technology is powered by Phychic energy provided by the eldar thamselves who are extreamly Phychic themselves [sound familuar] Also the main forces of this alian race were there close combat specialists who were armed with glowing blade like instriments caled power wepons.

    - Another Warhammer 40k race are calle dthe Tyranids [my personal favourate] Theye were a vaguely insect like race of aliens Who operated Locust like via a Hive Mind. Basically each inderviduall Tyranid was uninteligent on its own but was linked to a vast all controlling hive mind. There most common soldier type was the Gaunt which funnily enough looks almost identicle to its Starcraft Zerg equivelent.

The reason i posted this was two fold. First of all to post some facts concerning Games Worksho and to point out the glaring similaritys between certain Games Workshop and Blizzard products.

Anybody who purely looks at the odd visual similarity between WoW and WAR and called them a clone (in either direction) is extremly narrow minded, the stories/characters of Warhammer Vs Warcraft are completely different, and the same goes for Starcraft and WH40k.

But the truth is Gamesworkshop is playing catchup to Blizzard in the computer game arena.

Warhammer is the Turtle that beats the Hare. Blizzard can't fix WoW anymore, they've balanced it to death. I've been there, 5 of my characters got balanced. Not that I'm that fussed about it personally, I quit playing (clean for 3 months, 3 cheers for me ), but there's alot of signals from their customers that even Blizzard can't deny.

    Nor its fanbois/base

Waahaaay, finally... a WoW player who doesn't agree WAR is a WoW clone

I agree with your last comment also, although i see the tables may turn with the release of WAR. In time, of course.

it doesn't matter who ripped off who. The fact is alot of people that play wow have never even played another MMO and base their idea that games are wow clones w/o having other games like Daoc, AO, UO, SB, EQ etc...
