    Just wait for Tabula Rasa. If you want to kill giant insect-like creatures today play Ryzom.
    Starship Troopers don't have the deepest background story really, not much to build a game around- except bug squashing.

    Considering I just watched the movie a few weeks ago or so I would love to see one actually. =D

     

    Tabula Rasa does look intresting and sort of fits the idea I guess, but the game ive been told is more rpg-ish, which for me just makes it another anarchy online. -_-

    Was hoping it would have more depth to its combat system in particular like taking cover, strategies, etc. Sounds like its just a run and gun game.

    Interesting topic to see after playing Earth Defense Force 2017 for the Xbox 360 all night with my friend last night and laughing saying "NUKE EM RICO" which if you loved the first film as much as I did you will know Rico is the main character. Honestly the game is awful but it is remotely fun shooting huge bugs with homing rockets, also really funny. A bit off topic but yeah, I would love to see a shooter of Starship Troopers for 360 but as an MMORPG, nope. It just wouldn't do it justice at all, the story isn't enveloped enough for an MMORPG with any background or Lore at all except "They are big bugs we have to kill". Sorry but this is just my opinion :)

    When you say Starship Troopers MMO what do you really mean?

    A Half Life type game on the internet with a much less interesting story?

    I prefer online games that are like good books not some lame comics magazine.

    The movie were fun while I watched it but really nothing you would remember some months later.

    I would only play this if they based the MMO off of the original book.  I read the book long before the movie was ever released.  To say the least, I was totally disappointed with the movie as compared to the book.  The concepts were totally different.  The movie in itself, was decent, but to use the Starship Troopers ideal from the book was a total waste. 

    With movie technology now, I would love for them to remake the original movie based off of the book.  I think it would be great.  Starship Troopers 2 was a complete dud and now they are in the process of making a third movie that will be direct to dvd.  Goes to show how much confidence they have in the horrible concept they started with the movie.

    I doubt it would work. It would be  a PvE MMO  where you do nothing but kill bugs. But it my make for a decent pure FPS game.

    What ever is the theme in the mmorpg, it doesn't make it great. It's gameplay what makes the mmorpgs great.

    Yeah but there's no reason to choose Starship troopers as an IP to make a game. It doesn't have a fanbase that warrants it, it doesn't have a history as an IP in the video game world, and the movie was pretty bad. A game developer would be better off just making up a new IP.

    Is it based off of the book or the movie? The movie butchered the book. No power armor for the soldiers?  Granted, they probably didn't have a budget for it, but still.
