Well im in the middle of designing a Storm of Chaos Daemonic army of Slaanesh [ 2000 points ]. I am pretty ceertain the army list ive designed is a good tournament one but i thought id share it with those who know what im on about. If however this doesant belong here due to forum rules then i apologise and feel free to remove this if it is so.

Keeper of secrets = 625

Exulted Daemon of Slaneesh + Level 2 + Sophoric Musk = 260

20 Daemonetts + com = 335

20 Daemonetts + com = 335

5 Mounted Daemonetts = 150

5 Mounted Daemonetts = 150

Chariot Of Slannesh = 130

Anyway this army because i intend to use the forgworld Keeper of secrets will cost me arounf £450 [$900],so i need to be sure before i begine.

  • Damn, it's been awhile since I played, and I even had a Demonic Legion Slaanesh army.

The cobwebs and rust tell me it's a pretty solid list. Just remember to use cover on your approach, and try to hit one location with multiple units. The strength of the army is in offence, if you get into attrition combat you will loose. You shouldn't have much trouble moving around with such a fast army. I always found the mounted demonettes useful in getting a flank charge while an infantry block took the front, since they're so freaking fast.

It brings the large numbers of units of Risk to the tactics of Dungeons and Dragons in one big beautiful symphony of nerdy goodness.

  • Indeed, that forgeworld model is far and away superior to the ordinary Keeper of Secrets. Do you have to attach every one of those little spikes to the legs and chest and arm?

  • If I were crazy rich and didn't care about money, I'd build a Death Korps of Krieg army in a heartbeat.

HeH ive always ahd a soft spot for Daemon Based armies myself. My first one was a Tzeench one which was too easy to win with due to therre movement and magic.

Yes games Workshop does some very decent models. And forgworld does even more detailed ones [tho more costly]. Which is why ive constructed a display cabinet in my room and Living room which i intend to fit with Nicely painted Display models.

Once I graduate and have some actual money to spend, I plan on getting back into modeling...I really enjoy painting the 40k models, though the organic textures of the warhammer and Lord of the Rings models intimidate me so I tend to stick to painting things with a lot of armor.

I used to be like that but one day i discovered it was a lot easier to paint Organic textures than it was armour if you can belive it. My advice is to get a decent Wide Drybrush and use that then follow the 3 step colour process. For example for a red coloured finish First apint the whole area a very dark red then highlight everywhere [exept the deepist recesses] with a medium red, Then do light highlight with a bright red followed by a Final detail highlight on the edges with an Orange.

I've become pretty good at dry brushing metal armor, if I had a working camera I would take a picture of some of the space marines that I've done...My biggest problem is that I am extremely impatient with stuff like modeling, so I don't like to take hours on end to do one model, which leads to a bunch of good models, with very few truly great looking ones.

  • I'd actually put together an army and play again, but all the stores near me closed down. It's over an hour drive north or south to get to a store with game tables. I just don't know anywhere to play anymore.

    I do love the Astartes.

Hey I also used to collect Warhammer as well, Lizardmen in fact, however I just didn't have the patience for painting, and I have a ot of respect for people who are good at it.

On a side note: Those models look amazing, I've never heard of forgeworld before, but the detail and looks of them is stunning compared to the old warhammer models and new ones by the looks of it. Something that really made an impression on me is how much better the chaos spawn looks compared to the old silly one.

    Metal,

The only true way to see if the army suits your play style is to see it in action. All armies lose battles (Bad Dice Rolls, the One charge you thought would make it and missed etc.).

The army you have may also be light on numbers compared to others so scenario battles maybe a problem.

You are right that this isn't the best forum to discuss this. If you check with GW or do a google search you'll find forums aimed specifically at Warhammer Tournament players.

Its a Daemon army its suposed tobe light in numbers [because deamons are so tough with funny combat rules]

For example my Exulted Daemon halves its oponents wepon skill and initative if in base contact and it always strikes first so now you know why it costs what it does lol.

Of course another good thing about deamon armies is the fact that most of the models dont exist so you have to make them. they are a moddelers dream.

Well considering i probably only get one army every couple years id say its worth spending a bit on a nice looking one.

Yeah, it might be very expensive, but if you moderate yourself you can really get some fun out of it for a not so bad price. I love painting and playing warhammer. I actually just recently finally found some Mordian Iron Guard models (I play Imperial Guard, For the Emperor!) and I am soon done painting them and damn! they look bad ass

True when you lookat it like that it is a lot of cash but if one enjoys the result well so what?

One could say the same thing about the video games that we all play on this site...the difference is that Warhammer games tend to have much more replay value, and so when you add up the time spent painting them (part of the fun) and the time that you actually play with them, you end up with a similar value for both video games and table top ones...it's simply a matter of whether or not you enjoy the tabletop games to plunk down that kind of cash.
