No. I'm not saying that WAR=WoW, I know fully well that Warhammer was around WAY before blizzard made their ripoff versions. Don't throw that shit at me because I hate those clueless idiots as much as you do.
What I am saying is that, RvR and Battlegrounds are the same....
INSTANCED CAREBEAR PVP/E BUILT TO DIVERT ATTENTION FROM THE REAL FUN, WORLD PVP.
(World PvP =/= Ganking lowbies, and Dev's shouldnt be stupid enough to create a system where levels/class constitute a win/lose in the first place.)

I think it's reasonably safe to assume from this that each realm will have to spend a good deal of their time doing instanced scenarios if they want to win a tier. There are other things that add to your victory points, but they don't count as much. Anyone who's spent any time in an MMOG knows that people go for the fastest and easiest route first. If that fastest and easiest is instanced RvR, then you'll find people who want to win for their realm, spending the majority of their time in instanced RvR.
This is what I was trying to point out. If you want to win the "War" then you will be herded into instanced pvp lands like sheeple.
Everyone seems to be so excited about getting victory points for your faction so you can go and "Sack the racial capital"...but honestly, it will just be another version of king of the hill. And after it is retaken, everything will reset back to normal and it will be as if you did no damage at all.
Classes...
Levels...
Gear...
Sorry, but the only reason this game has so much hype is because they are using good propoganda:
"WAR IS COMING!"
Notrly. More instanced carebear PvP/E with the dev team working frantically to give you the feeling of being able to have a real effect on the war. It will never be about you or your elite troop of buddies, it will be about the horde of sheeple working day and night in the instances farming VP in their mother's basement. That is not War.
At the end of the day, Warhammer Online will just be another Carebear rehash with all of the worst parts of MMO's past, albeit made with wicked awesome Warhammer lore art and humor.
**Edit: I moved a later post of mine up here, hopefully to quell some of the "LOL REED SIET" and "LOL GO BACK TO AOC" posts.
Oh well, back to waiting for Darkfall...
Comments
do some research or go wait for the vaperware.
My vaporware just got a $25mill loan. Take your own advice.
...I've been looking at WAR for months, and all I've seen is some souped up versions of CTF and king of the hill and maybe a deathmatch in "Special RvR areas"
So erm...Consensual Faction based PvP huh? Fun fun...
Just because one game has faulty mechanics, doesn't mean they all do bud.
thats why i go to AoC
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7
whats 25mill gonna do if it takes 60mill for vanguard to come out with a sh1t game?
AoC? you mean the game where you actually HAVE TO ASK if you can attack your enamies castle? "yes Mr Hitler blitz sounds great"
Define open world PvP for me.
Are you asking if any player can attack any other player at any time in any zone regardless of race, faction affiliation, level, or proximity to guards? Then no, WAR doesn't have it.
If you're asking can you go out into the open world outside of cities and kill players from the opposign side, then yes, yes you can.
AoC? you mean the game where you actually HAVE TO ASK if you can attack your enamies castle? "yes Mr Hitler blitz sounds great"

WAR is coming, are you prepared?

wait wait wait..... warhammer battle fronts are non instanced. These are taking over the cities and the big open pvp battle grounds in the zones you play in. The small instance pvp is the scenario's, something like wow's arena system.
DaOC's rvr battlegrounds were pretty fun, sieging a castle and all, on top of the frontier stuff... If Mythic integrates such types of things in WAR than it will be pretty decent indeed, from a pvp perspective.
I wish the moderators could delete all the threads linking WAR and anything to do with WoW because its starting to become irritating.
I know, make a sticky where people can discuss the similarities of WAR and WoW. Yeah, that would do the trick

First of all: RvR is not only PvP, but PvE as well. Kinda funny you missed that while ranting about clueless idiots
But for the PvP aspect of RvR: Scenarios will be one part of WARs PvP. Open World PvP will be the other part. Scenarios offer more rewards for your realm, because they are balanced. You can't Zerg small groups in scenarios, you can't off-peak raid Objectives in Scenarios. Rather than an auto-win for the overpopulated side, the skill determines who wins the scenarios, regardless of numbers.
However, Quests, both PvP and PvE will take place in PvP Zones, with many quests having contradictory goals for both sides (for example: Order shall save injured dwarfs on the Battlefield while Destruction must rip their beards off and kill them).
So WAR will have Non-Consensual World PvP, 80% of endgame Zones will be PvP Zones, there will be plenty of Open World Objectives to take, capture, steal, guard, defend, destroy, Objectives that will have more meaning than a mere "+5% Damage against Undead", maing them basically meaningless.
I have been reading up about WAR and AoC doing some debating on which one would fit ME better... and after reading the news about the "greenskins" and "dwarf" starting locs i am starting to think WAR is going to be for younger kids. It also sounds like the game sticks closely to a storyline. The devs keep trying to say it is nothing like WOW. Why??? RvR!!!! but rvr sounds just like alliance vs horde, very much like the battlegrounds of WOW as mentioned above. And if you are wondering if AoC will have open pvp, the devs already said there will be ffa pvp servers.

From that, you obviously need to do more reading.

Hehe, well Warhammer Greenskins are basically the comedians of Warhammer, the Slapstick-Funny-Guys ^_^, expect more "mature" things from Empire/Destruction and Elves.
And to RvR... read info about WAR, there are plenty of differences.

Isn't it true in WAR that the Computer picks your team mates in this RvR environment? Sure when you group together with friends, hit enter, if your side is lacking in numbers the computer will balance things up in the instance?
What if you held a castle, when to bed and found out when you woke up it was lost? Sounds like a good organised aspect to me, besides when you lay siege in AoC you notify the opposition of your intent and demands and they have a certain amount of time to respond upon which if there is no response you lay seige anyway. What controls are there in Warhammer? What happens when you log on and there is only 50 people on your side and your outnumbered 2-1 in an instanced event? Do you get gimped because of your timezone?
That's why there ARE instanced battlegrounds in WAR, apart from the Open World PvP.
In Open World, if you are severely outnumbered, you almost have a default loss. In a Scenario, the Numbers are balanced, if your side is outnumbered, Dogs of War, NPCs help your team out to always allow for a challenge and no default wins/losses.
Taking a city will last hours and days of continous work, and unless your whole realm organizes a huge off-peak raid, Scenarios prevent that you take the city too quick. Basically if you and your groupmates add up to 50 people during off-peak times, and lets say there is no enemy online. You'd have to do the Scenario to open the Capitol City Gates approx. 100 times or something, basically impossible to do, and that is assuming that your realm already owns all zones apart from the enemie's capitol.
Sure, the numerical advantage of a realm WILL be an advantage, but Mythic knows this and implements various systems to lower the effect of off-peak raids and zerging.
Go into a 3rd world country and start shooting up the place... when you die you have experienced hardcore PvP.
Hopefully that will take care of the idiots that think you have to have extreme consequences to make PvP fun.
If WAR is not your cup of tea... then shut up, sit down, and wait for a game that is.
Trolling boards making idiotic comments does absolutely nothing for anyone.

You are correct you can. But lets be honest with ourselves how are you going to PvP out in the world(not instanced places) when everyone else wants the phat loots from the instanced PvP. So I can see all the retarded people posting back to this and my reply to this is look at WoW. Before battlegrounds were in place everyone migrated to Southshore PvP heaven, all the cool kids went there to have some fun and just kill for no reason other then to kill. Then came the battleground system everyone flocked there so they could get all their epic and feel special about themselves. But, it was boring and repetitive and I bet you made the same deal as I did when I got all those epic. "I'm never going to that god forsaken place ever again." So sure if you want to kill the one or two noobs out in the real world and slap that on as PvPing in the real world go ahead, but don't deceive everyone else into thinking that to.
The problem here is you're doing what everyone else is: immediately equating WAR with WoW.
Will WAR have instanced pvp areas? Yes. Will they work exactly the same as WoW's BGs? Doesn't seem that way.
As to loot..so far, I've yet to see anything concrete saying that the point system used to acquire pvp loot in WAR will require you to play in the instanced RvR battles. Or that the point values for RvR battlefields vs open world pvp kills will be so drastically different that there will be no point to pvp outside the instances. That was WoW's mistake. Let's see, I can kill 500 times in STV and get...hmm...50 honor (thank you diminishing returns) or I can sit in AV for 20 minutes and make 800 honor. Which am I gonna do?
If WAR is smart, they'll create a point system that rewards world PvP instead of discourages it.
Source please? I haven't seen any concrete listing of how the point/loot system in WAR is going to work, what the values for various objectives/kills are, etc.
I've seen info on how the instances will work, and what kind of things you can do in world PvP, but nothing on exactly how the rewards system will break down. I'd be interested to see it if there is anything out there.
