I don't feel worried at all. They probably just doing what they are supposed to be doing which is working on the game. Since Funcom announced AOC I think they have given the community tons of info. I think people are under the assumption that they expect Funcom to show them the entire game which is truely not happening. They also have Leipzig coming so they are getting prepared for that as well. I see no reason for worry only AOC fans like myself and others waiting impatiently for the release
Good, informative post. I hope this helps die down the ''Vangaurd launch all over again'' type of posts. In effigy, all we can really do is wait and see what will happen, all this speculating can be fun but it can make you paranoid, lol.
I'm not worried about lack of information, I'm worried because of the insanely risky systems AoC tries to implement.
Revolutionary Combat System...ok, fine. If they manage to pull it off properly, it'll be great. But I doubt that it'll work as intended right from the start.
I'm worried that AoC won't be fun, that's all. And that's the only reason why I don't hold my breath for AoC, too much can go too wrong, so I'll wait two weeks after release, test it, and then decide if I'll give it a longer try or not.

I doubt it, I get the impression nothing is going to stop the crap this forum has been receiving lately except a near perfect launch in October, which would be unrealistic to actively expect these days even when the gaming company is sticking to tried and true MMO features.

I think this reply is very prevalent to this post, and let me explain why. I've said this be for, that everyone expects to know every detail about the game be for it releases. Funcom has stated previously "In MMO Society where players want the walktrhough guides ready to pick up at the counter with their brand new Copy of their favorite game, they've become spoiled" Look back to games that were really revolutionary. UO, AO, EQ, COH WOW. These games DID NOT have huge beta's. These stated titles did not have 300 videos on YouTube. Maybe Vanguard did, so instead of putting together videos, they should have been working on the game? Obviously Sigil didn't keep their goals first and foremost. Funcom isn't new to this. They don't have funding problems. They arn't rushing the release date.(They've already pushed it back 3 times when they needed to). They have acquired what to me seems to be some of the best licenses in the industry; for example their game engine, and the Tree's and Environment are precoded drop in engines. They aren't trying to reinvent the wheel. They are using technology that is already on the market and working with it. Funcom is working with industry pros from Microsoft and Nvidia. (Who better to help a game run correctly????)
So in closing whats the REAL problem? Your not seeing enough about the game?? My very simple answer is this QUIT CRYING.
People are spoiled by the QUANTITY of what they got from poorly developed titles, and think that the well managed titles should be more like the ones that failed, VANGUARD?
The problem is a small proportion of gamers have generally become so "jaded" and "upset" for what ever reasons in other games, they have taken the selfish approach. Its all "me,me,me" these days. They feel its owed to "them" that certain features, news, etc etc should pertain to their beliefs and ideals. They speak as if they are the whole of the general public - is stupid close-mindedness.
What you witness alot of these forums is alot of these "upset" / "burned" gamers who are looking to vent anger on something they don't like the look of - if its not upto their standard. I think culture has alot to do with it.
You also get the lovers of other games jumping on threads to try and twist the virtual knife even more on an inconsiquental subject.
You also get the posters, writing about doom just so they can get a kick out of the responses. This type of poster often hides behind cleverly placed or coined phrases of support in contradiction to their hidden agenda.
I must say I don't often read this part of mmorpg.com as I'm kinda following warhammer for my sons sake, but when I do its really obvious to see who just posts "pro doom". You know who you are, and its wimpy to hide behind what you really feel! It shows a lack of conversational skill and a pretty messed up mind.
There will be another sprout of "doom or doom prediction threads" before release it just the immature nature of a vast proportion of these forums. Its a real shame as we are all gamers at heart, one games success isn't neccessarily another games loss.

You naïvely overlook the fact that Funcom is using the Dreamworld engine - which, for the most part, is already tried and true.
I agree with Fion. A lot of people need to put their red doomsday button back under the table. Coincidence and PR that wasn't fully thought out is the problem here.
What 'worries' me is not lack of communication as I think I have to agree with a few here who say it is a bit ridiculous the way gamers expect to be fed info for years preceding launch but the game itself. Without opening another topic I worry about the whole DX10 thing as Vista as a gaming platform is such a miserable pile of crap, I worry that the videos I do see look laggy and the combat show seems just as artificial as other MMOs. Whether a guy facing one way swinging at guy off to his side and hitting or just the very repetivitve way combat looks. I worry about the fact that the game is likely to be quite dumbed down in order to make it able to work on a 360 (make no mistake, that stupid ass game controller is only good for Mario, sports games, and other mindless button bashing exercises) so have the game built to work with it will severely alter the way it plays on a PC. This is my #1 issue - in all my years of gaming I have NEVER seen a game that works well on PC or console - inevitably it is a mismatch for one of the platforms.
So worried about lack of info - not really. Worried that the game is getting setup for a possible big fall if alot of the hype (DX10, new combat system, etc) turn out to be less than stellar, or even terrible.
Why do you people even worry about a game you haven't even played yet anyway? It's not like you have to worry if it will be successful as the developers or something. Give it a break, play it and choose when it launches. People who worry about a game if it's gonna be a flop before they even try it are just impetuously indecisive in all things they do. Give it a break and relax, I bet the game wont be much more then a EQ2 clone. EQ2 also said they would have a revolutionary combat system, well that didn't work out, nobody uses the heroic opportunities much or care for it and much more hack and slash games.
I would agree with you, I only use the term 'worry' in the sense of this being a discussion forum about the game. In terms of RL or anything outside this specific subject it doesn't matter much at all whether it is good or not.
