Final Fantasy forces you to group to level. The Norweigan son of god is right.

Dungeons And Dragons Online, although soloing is possible to an extent the game is built almost entirely around grouping.

    Everquest 1

    Dungeon and Dragons Online

Lord of the Rings online from ca. level 30, 35 due to  too many elites

Ultima Online for advanced fun and dungeons

All grindy games such as L1/2, or Silkroad, because of the insane amount of monster kills per quest (say 500 or so).

Write down the names of all the mmo's on the list, then stick it up to a dart board.  Throw a Dart at it, the name on which the dart lands will force you to do alot of grouping.

Is there an MMO out there (besides WoW) that doesn't require you to group to advance?

That's what I'd like to know.

    Current MMOs: Rift, GW2, Defiance

Only a hand full.  You can usually spot them because people will argue about how shallow they are.  World of Warcraft, Guild Wars, and Lord of the Rings Online.
