Looking for an MMO with serious crafting

luckdragonluckdragon Member UncommonPosts: 34

Auto Assault had one of the best crafting systems out there. I loved the refining, the components, reverse engineering, experimentation, and patents. It wasn't perfect in it's execution, but the concept was second to none IMO.

I'm looking for a new game with a crafting system that has as many of those concepts as possible. So far, I've tried SWG and Vanguard. SWG was fun, but there's really no way to compete with the wealthy, established crafters in a shrinking population. Vanguard had some similar concepts, but the process makes me suicidal.

Are there any other alternatives out there?

Final Fantasy XI has a very deep and profitable crafting system.

EVE Online has notably the best market of any MMO and you are able to develop equipment, ships etc. if you have the blueprint. You can even specialize in business + R&D and make a living off of crafting.

If you want crafting, being able to build about anything, experimenting to find new things, new materials, new ways of growing materials..  nothing beats A Tale in the Desert.

Of course there is nothing but crafting but it is tops in what it does.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it is bad.

    I say Ryzom.

A tale in the desert just wasnt a fun system for me.  I did not like once you reached a certain lvl you had to have a lot of people helping you to advance.  To me it was more of a social game than anything.

FFXI didnt bring anything new to the table for crafting.  Its the usual crafting you find in the majority of MMOs.

Eve is good, and the market is good.  But I just feel more depth in Ryzom.

Roma-Victor is really good if you like to spend hours at it.  Its so  in depth you could take a nap trying to make a knife.

Runescape has a huge amount of crafting involved.

A tale in the desert is all crafting. you nvr fight in that game.

BTW EvE onlines crafting is good but its not the best. you will have to play it to see what i mean.
