"It is easier to be cruel than wise. The road to wisdom is long and difficult... so most people just turn out to be assholes" Feng (Christopher Walken)
Maybe you should try to listen to their lyrics. I guarantee you that murdering families with hatchets, conjuring zombies, creating killer toys that massacre school children and a group member's quest to find all of his organs after his body explodes has nothing to do with gangstas.
Here's an excerpt from one of my favorite songs:
"
You like soldiers?
We got soliders.
Made of rubber and steel, they look real, but just don't leave them under your bed; that's how you get an axe to the forehead.
No, don't leave em sit around all day.
Come home and find your mom... Dead in the hallway, cause they can be nifty.
All the toys are shifty, (Maniacal clown laugther), in my toy box
"
hehe. A couple of my friends were WAY into ICP. I even had an album. ICP had a contest some years ago were you had to call a country radio show and request an ICP song. A friend of mine called the local one in our area, was funny as hell. He didn't win though.
I've also been to 2 ICP concerts. High energy, and a lots of fun. Almost beat up a bouncer who spit in my face at the last one I went to. Even met B Real who opened up for ICP with a band he put together.
I prefered Marz though. I thought his voice and style were pretty cool. Also the two other guys that came out of ICP's label. Can't think of thier name though. They were in Big Money Hustlers though.
I actually like 2 songs ICP did. One starts out, "I got shot, blough, the murder was henious (sp?), and the other was a story about a ride were you get to see a father that beats his familly, a junky, and something else. Can't remember the name of that one. (it was the most serious thing I'd ever heard from them, and really was kind of intelligent.
Edit: If you're familliar with Damn I wish I was a Ninga, you should listen to Damn It feels good to be a gangsta (think that's the title) The original name of the group was Inner City Posse. They have an album that they did with others on thier label that is a basically a cover of gangsta rap. They did it because people said they couldn't rap and they wanted to put something out that showed they could do what everyone else was doing at the time.
You should try and find thier old demo album. Basement tracks, or beats, or something like that. You might be suprised if you've never heard it.
Also, how the hell did they manage to get signed to the Disney label. I mean, didn't anyone listen to what they were doing before they pressed the first album. Silly people at Disney.
They also have couple songs they've done with 3 6 mafia.
Oh, and Sharon Osbourne absolutely hates them. Can't remember what for, but they had some exchange of words.
Edit: The name of the other group is Twizted. I have thier Freak show album. Haven't listened to it in years. Think I will tonight. I also have The Great Milenko.

I so would have requested chicken huntin'.

That's "Passin me By" on The Great Milenko. Good song.

"The Halls of Illusion" on the same.

That's interesting. I've never heard of it. Guess I'll give a look. You never know where you can find new and interesting things.

This is a sequence of characters intended to produce some profound mental effect, but it has failed.

lol, yeah. Disney orignally signed them to a deal, pressed an album, then realized who they were and pulled the album. I think it actually made it to the stores under Disneys label for about a day before being pulled.
They also have couple songs they've done with 3 6 mafia.
Oh, and Sharon Osbourne absolutely hates them. Can't remember what for, but they had some exchange of words.

LOL, I know! I used to listen to Howard Stern every morning. Sharon and ICP were pretty regular on his show because of the beef they had. Was pretty funny. I think Sharon made a bet with them that they would never have an album go gold. She should have bet them on a platinum album, cause they made gold after she made that bet. It was around the time of the double album they released. Can't remember the name of it.
Edit: The name of the other group is Twizted. I have thier Freak show album. Haven't listened to it in years. Think I will tonight. I also have The Great Milenko.
It's a toss up between two AFI albums (from before they went all My Chemical Romance). Either Black Sails in the Sunset, or The Art of Drowning. They retain, while maybe not Hardcore, a Punk sound, with the addition of more poetic lyrics.

"Kaneda! What...do you see?"
AFI is the only "pick bass" sound I enjoy. Early A Fire Inside, that is. Their new stuff is too soft, though.
