WoW easy? Or is it hard if not harder then EQ?

Even before all the dumb down of EQ can any one really say EQ is harder then WoW? Yea death is muuuuch more harsh back then in the old days of EQ but lets take a look at EQ

Damage shields with this buff any class can easily solo its a breeze especcially warriors and AOE classes.

BUFFs in general and insane in EQ buffs in EQ no where near compare to the buffs in WoW.

Playing EQ from 1-65 to 1-75 even from the days of PoP EQs leveling has always been easier and simplistic for one reason EQ allowed group bonus XP instead of a penatly.

Items, any noob given plat or brought plat in EQ can buy insannnne items to equip there character, even the lamest soloing class in EQ with twink insane gear can blow through EQ especcially given fungi. Now a days alot of items have level restricts, though alot dont. ALot of insane haste items, fungi tunic etc and even blade of carnage has no level rec.

Well well WoW has hunters and warlocks that can solo like no tommarow.  Lets take a look at mages, bards, necros, wizzys, druids, SKs all those classes can plow through EQ even untwinked.

WoW is easy mode. Yes it is so is everything and was everything, only mmo i wouldnt call easy mode was old school UO now that was hard, and not because of monsters but because of players made that game hard mode. WoW has some difficulty also, being a warrior or even any class really in WoW not watching your pulls, not watching for quick respawns can do you in quick.

Yea WoW is popular and popularized the EZmode genre but WoW was only making better to what the easy mode already was and that was EQ. Lets not forget PoP came out before WoW was even announced and EQ:PoP was the start of easy mode.

I have and i bet i can level up a class in EQ just as fast as in WoW. WoW didnt start easy mode. EQ did, EQs always been easy mode its one flaw was the death penalty.

I'm surprised that anyone who played the original EQ would say it was easy.  There weren't really any power levelers in the early days.  It took to long for people to get to high level to begin with.  Equipment most of the way up was horrible.  Most people didn't have magic equipment until max level.  Many people wore plain old steel armor around brought off vendors.  EQ required a lot more patience then WoW.  It certainly wasn't for the casual player.  Mobs were much more difficult to kill.  Many times you would die trying to kill mobs that barely gave you any experience solo.  I guess it really depends on the class and the time period played, but even with twinking the game took quite a while to level yourself up.  The quests were a lot more difficult to complete and gave less rewards.  The dungeons were much more dangerous to traverse.  Even the outdoor areas were hard to traverse without dieing at times.

Of course WoW is easymode but at the same time it's extremely boring...which is why I never bothered leveling to 70.  Especially after playing EQ for so long.

I think EQ is harder because you lose EXP when you die. In WoW, nothing really happens exept I think you lose a little armor points.

WoW is no where near, and never will be (a good thing) as challenging as EQ 1.

EQ 1 was more of a bitch than challenging.

Challenge is different.  Challenge in EQ 1 was generic corpse runs and harsh death penalties.  Challenge in a good game like EQ 2 is more fun, interesting, and holds your attention.  EQ 2 is like what EQ 1 should have been.

I would have to disagree with you there.  EQ1 was more challenging then EQ2 and EQ2 doesn't hold my interest at all.  I guess this is all just personal opinion though.  I guess I'm just a fan of the D&D second edition style rules which EQ1 was imitating instead of the 3rd edition which EQ2 is imitating.

eq was by far harder that WoW, how do you even compare the difficulty?  I played back when the game was new and quit right before they increased the max lvl to 70.  Starting off is insanely hard and near impossible to make money.  I was lvling up buying bronze armor from vendors and if you werent a kiting class (i was a paladin) you got your ass handed to you playing solo.  Even group play got difficult with adds and such.  Not saying eq is better than WoW but i enjoyed eq a lot more, some people hated it some people loved it.

I would love to go back to classic eq maybe if they made servers with only a few first expansions and i would enjoy it more than most of the new mmo's coming out.

the original post makes no sense. It is only clear the following; EQ post pop he states was easy-mode, UO>everything, and Wow is easy-mode but can also be difficult....

I will only respond with one thing that I disliked PoP as much as the next guy but really don't see how it was easy-mode, it was very raid-focused. Raids weren't exactly a cakewalk.

Another proof the new MMO generation that WoW created really have no clue about anything, and a strong will to prove it.
