I have picked up and put down RYL 2 multiple times in the past and so im just going to ask some blunt questions about it since I already get a good part of the game..... besides in my stay here ive noticed theres a lot of harsh critics here so... I like this place:P
Is it possible to be effective in pvp without slaving away farming spens/minerals to build the best gear ever or am I doomed to grind my life away even after leveling.
If your not doomed to grind for good gear at what level would you recommend trying to venture into pvp?
Is a defender/warrior pretty much useless without the best gear in the world in pvp?
Would being a higher level count for anything even if your gear wasn't so hot because you are on a team?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now that those are over time for some random questions.
Whats in the middle of the moon?
Who here liked secret of mana for the SNES?
Who else didn't even really give dark messiah's MP a chance because ubisoft clearly can't make games?
How badly do you miss SWG PRE-CG?
Anyone worried that the mmorpgs coming out are going to remind us why blizzard owns the mmorpg market.... gg fury having combat like guild wars.

lol your playing RYL2. Its your typical Grindfest so you probably won't feel rewarded for investing time in it.
You will grind your life away even after leveling, that is if you can finish leveling. The grind is autrocious. You will have to upgrade nice gear to be able to compete in PVP and that stuff usually breaks alot in upgrading.
Defender/Warrior is useless in PVP even with gear. They took the typical approach to balance which means Melee class useless in PVP.
No being higher in level doesn't mean shit since the game has been out for a few years. Just a waste of time.
My suggestion is to boycott this type of game, and play a descent PVP based game like Counter-Strike or a casual game.
Grinding ? Heard the game was very easy to level up in.
I can only assume its grinding because I was dead bored for the repetative task of leveling in that game by level 12. It may be true gaining levels isn't a challenge, but its gameplay is unsophisticated and has you do continous menial tasks.
Isn't that every game on the market?
As I have played original RYL and RYL 2, which by the way are the same freaking thing practically, I will chime in. RYL is easy to level in, if you stick to the quests you should be able to level from 1-45 in 24 hours of play, FYI I can do this in 8, but for a first timer who doesn't have everything memorized, I'll lengthen a bit. The great thing about RYL is the ability to hit multiple mobs at a time, so if you were to talk a couple high levels, buffer and healer into power level you, you could literally zoom to 70/80 plus in a matter of weeks. If we are talking legit casual play, say 15-20 hours a week, it would take 3 weeks to reach 60 at worst, and another 3 to hit 80 at worse.
As for the Gear/LvL PvP topic, Gear is important only in certain circumstances, say duels, or small number fighting. As most of the Racial warfare on Map 3 is of the "Massively Mob Variety" your gear will mean ziltch. Some exceptions would include Archers for humans and Gunners for Merks, as they rely on a huge one hit kill, so their weapon AAA'd out is important to make sure they get the kill. Level is the thing that matters, as a 90+ can easily drop a 4-5 group of low 80's, ten levels is killer frenzy.
The game is fun in my opinion, but can like all other rpg's out there, wear out. I couldn't be anything other than an Archer or Assassin on human as having low dex is the worst thing about the game. Being able to freely move is a great feeling with super high dex in this game, as you get faster as you add it. If the Malaysian version is still free, give it a try, I'm sure you'll have fun for a while at least.

well... ive played it for awhile and have like a 60 sorcerer, so the game dynamics including the easy leveling isn't the problem, from what I understood from RYL 2.... a level 60 could stomp a level 95 into the dirt because they have uber gear... from my understanding the game was all about uber gear so much to the point that there are people who lawn mow everyone else in pvp because they either spent loads of time on the game or paid money.... Now in group pvp if gear does not matter that much thats fine with me ... dueling in RYL 2 is kinda pointless because no the game is not really based on skill.... I was just checking what other people knew who played it. As far as warriors and the works being worthless im sure they can mob just as well as others in the war.... not everyone has uber gear >_<.
RYL 2 actually allows one to get to 1-40 in like 4 hours or so if you use diamond pots too... so leveling up to a point solo isnt hard especially with any respectable melee character.... what im asking is can I avoid the stupid gear grind and still kill people in the war, I don't have to be a demi-God who slays everyone with one slash.
If you arent an Archer/Gunner then no in my opinion, otherwise you'll be gear whoring for quite some time.
All you need as an Archer/Gunner is a pimped out weapon, AAA'd out, and you will one hit kill the highest HP hoes. Never heard of 60's even killing a 70, so the game must have changed gear wise. Gear was important, but it was 30+ levels important, not even 10. Good luck, remake a Str Archer and I promise at 90+ you will kill everyone in PVP and be able to get away while doing so.

Killing everyone and getting away...kinda redundant isnt it ? :P
