The more I play WoW the more I realize it is just a game of waiting. I am tired of having to wait such a long time in order to get my desired gear so that I can put up a decent fight in PvP. I am forced to wait for the week cool down on Kara and the once a week award of arena points, that even for the best ranked teams the amount of points is not enough to buy one piece a week. I feel that video games should offer instant gratification. I should not be forced to wait these amounts of time in order to see improvement in my character's gear. I suggest that the award of arena points should be changed from being granted weekly to being granted after each arena won. If a player gained arena points each arena equal to the number of rating gained it would take approximately 100 wins to earn a piece of armor. Also in awarding arena points in this manner it would allow for entire sets of gear including: rings, trinkets, weapons and necklaces to go along side the armor. If this lack of reward for playing is not addressed very soon I along with MANY others will be leaving WoW for either War Hammer or Age of Conan.

you know whats fun? playing the game at YOUR pace. raiding is great but its not the only thing the game has to offer. the zones are good fun and i am having a blast on all my characters slowly getting them up to 70. i dont feel a need to get to 70 quickly and i dont feel bored because i am playing the game at my own pace
try it sometime its good fun

Ok lets say you can click ya fingers and bomb full T5, then what, you'll be back here say "omg wow sux theirs nothing to do, nothing to look forward too".
Blizz are considering lowing cooldown for kara, but with zul'aman around the corner (a little harder then kara) I think it timer is fine.
You say you want instant gratification, but MMORPGs are not designed with this in mind. They're designed to be long term affairs, spending a long time on something so the sense of achievement at the end is greater. A lot of players complain about the grind in WoW, but they do it anyway - the rewards are usually worth it.
My friend got his 5000 gold mount last week and despite all the bitching and moaning he'd been doing for weeks farming for it, he was over the moon when he got it, and spent the next couple of nights just flying around Outland.
I wont lie, a lot of systems in WoW are designed just to take time - no skill, no strategy, just time. And yeah, other MMOs are just as guilty, if not worse. This is why I like raiding - the high end raids do take a lot of skill, coordination and strategy and helping your guildmates get nice stuff is a reward in itself.
You make friends, and thats why I play this game.

I firmly believe that MMOs can offer dramatically reduced wait times while at the same time offering long term perpetual entertainment. I'm not going into specifics, because I tend to write really long posts when I do that. Suffice it to say instantaneous instancing with instaneous travel methods (like town portals for instance) can negate the "wait" aspect of the game without destroying progression and a perpetual world.
I agree with what you want OP, but than what will you look forward to, and besides MMOs are designed so it takes a while to acomplish your goals, because they want you to pay more. Hell even in single player games you dont get things instantly, but it is less a of a wait, and I agree. The best thing to do is play at your own pace and if you arent having fun you are better of quitting and find something else to do, mabye later on you will want to come back. It happened to me I stopped playing and recently started playing again, I made a shaman and am playing casualy and having fun leveling, if I get bored again (which at one point I will, it happens with everything) I'll quit again.

The worse thing to do is lock your self in a house to get geared up for a video game, alot of people do it and I have done it too in the past, games can be addictive, especially MMOs and especially WoW, dont let your self get to that point and loose your social life or get left behind. Wow or any other MMO is a game, and life is way more important than a fantasy world, which you will abandon one day because everything comes to an end. I see alot of people who raid almost every night, and even on weekends which is usually when people go out irl and have fun with their friends and family but these folks are staying in and playing wow, getting stressed because they are wiping or simply dont feel like clearing trash. I am not here to tell people how to live their lives but I know that there comes one point where you cant go back, and you regret things.

This is exactly why raiding as a sole means of end game progression is not good for the game, the players, or the genre. Not to say that raids shouldn't be in game. I like raids on occasion. Just not every darn night !
This is just natural territory in MMO's that have been out for a while with the only server options being developed servers that enable transfers from even more developed servers.
A lot of people that currently aren't playing any MMO's right now like that "fresh start" feel, where they are on par with everyone else and working towards the end goal. Right now in WoW, you won't get that because the newest servers are 6 months old and have transfers, plus, the current content has pretty much been done by everyone, so even if you make new toons, you're going to be a peon in any guild you join, and probably be lucky to go on most raids because other better-geared players will get priority.
However, with this new WoW expansion info, all is reset once again pretty much because everyone that is "geared" now is going to be shit-geared when they're getting 73 greens that beat their epics. So, it's pretty much a fresh start when that comes out, providing you are 70 like everyone else.
You had it right until you added in that part about Raiding. You should of just left it with Systems in woW are designed to take time - no skill, no strategy, just time.

My main dislike is limiting arena points to once a week and awarding so few. Increase the reward for winning and make it possible to buy an item a week. Those that complain you will beceome bored to easily if additional items were added and replaced each season than you could have an item for each week of the season while still getting a sense of reward.
