Payment Methods

I know there will probably be prepaid cards and also monthly payment methods, but is there going to be something like in LOTRO where you could pay 190$ and get a life time payment? Or not decided yet?

I should think it will be the same as SoEs other titles - monthly CC billing, gamecards, and whatever they got that Station Pass thing.

Can you trade in game coin for time cards like in EVE Online and basically play the game for free?

Nope.  We'd like to make our money back someday.  No free play with advertising.  No free play with microtransactions to buy more canonballs.  Normal, monthly fee based subscriptions.  I expect we'll have typical multimonth discounts, but that hasn't been nailed down yet.

The Sony Station Pass is their program where you pay a single fee (about double the normal monthly fee) and have access to all their games.  You still have to have purchased the game initially, but you enjoy several different games and want to switch between them, or if you like to drop in to EQ every once in a while to check in with friends, you can do it for a single price.

Nope.  I make home made ice cream.  And since Sony isn't funding our game they don't have anything to do with it.  We're just a small business that would like to make back it's investment in time and money.

Maybe if you picked a different publisher you might be able to do that, but crawling in bed with SOE is a bad marketing move. You have lost many potential customers.

    Citation? Facts? No?

Even the polls on this rather biased forum show that most people don't care. The handful of people who can't get over whatever SOE did to personally affront them simply aren't as numourous as they would try and have us believe. The fact that lots of you still spend time reading and posting in forums of games associated with SOE speaks volumes.

And if it's unsubstanciated statements that are the order of the day, SOE brings many more potential customers than they detract. And let's face it: If the game sucks people won't play either way, if the game's great lots of these SOE-killed-my-dog types will be playing anyway.

The station pass is imply a higher monthly fee you pay to have access to all SOE games - last I recall it was like $29 instead of the normal 415 for one game.
