Read through the forums here, I've posted it enough times.

They are switching to a whole new server structure, everything brand new and up to date, also they are releasing the 17.5 patch along with it, as they had to wait for the servers to be ready before they could implement 17.5 (it could not have been done on the old servers). This is the beginning of the updates they are doing, servers first, then new graphics rendering engine withing the year, and then new graphics afterwards.

Agreed, they said the Front End pages needed updating, so I think from all the recent Q&A session, we might see alot of new info in th F.A.Q,  Fingers crossed.

This is what they posted in AO, so you have to possibly assume they are moving their AoC servers into this new state of the art production enviroment.

Greetings citizens of Rubi-Ka,



We will have a significant period of downtime, provisionally starting on Tuesday 7th of August at 07:00am GMT and lasting for approximately 48 hours. This is to allow us to transfer the live servers to all new state of the art production environment. Exact times and details on the downtime will be announced within the next few days.

Niether, Funcom is working on all of their servers, including the ones that run the official AoC forums. But the main work going on behind this announcement is on Anarchy Online, which is going down for 48 hours for a major workover.

Wow i bet they are bringing the forum servers down for an upgrade.... it probably even means that they will be slightly different when they come back up
