Anyone know a solid date for the server merge? I havent played for a few months due to declining population, but I'm planning on coming back after the merge. How's performance these days? Can I get by with one Gig of ram? I had some lagg issues at launch.

If you have a good Graphics card u can get away with 1g but its not recommended
Hello, Panthersn.
I do not think that there is a specific date yet established for the server merges. I am also eagerly waiting for it to occur.
My performance is completely fine these days, and most people I know experience on average 40 to 50+ fps. If I have time, I will long in later today and test it on my system. I think 2 gigs of ram would be ideal for this game. I imagine, though, that you could definitely "get by" on 1 gig. From Test Server Patch Notes:
- Performance should see a significant boost, especially for computers with less than 2GB of memory. The client will now use a great deal less memory from textures. This option will be enabled by default without requiring the user to wipe their vgclient.ini. It will be enabled for all configurations.
Soon I hope. Empty servers are depressing.
I had 1gig of RAM and a Geforce 7300LE card and ran the game fine on High Performance. I thought the game looked okay enough to play it too on that setting. A server date has not been announced. Because of the population decline and the difficulty of finding groups for my level, I quit until the server merge or better yet, a serious population increase.

Preferred Playstyle: Roleplay/adventurous, in a sandbox game.
The announced date for the merge is the same as it has always been 3 weeks.
Performance is better than it was at release, for me mostly it means less crashes and the chunking isnt quite as bad. I dont get any better FPS now then I did at launch though.
1 gig could lead to issues, crashing or performance. I have 2gig and things are running smoothly now. I monitor my ram usage on my keyboard LCD and have watched the utilization drop from consistently in the 85%-95% (anything higher would crash me) to 62%-78%. So the memory leak fixes are having a big effect... maybe to the point where 1 gig would handle it fine now.
