My only question.

I'm a long time fan of Simu's products, including Gemstone III way back when it was on AOL. Me and my guildmates are looking for a new place to move to (out of WoW). I just have a couple of big questions for any of the HJ GMs or fans out there.

1.) How long will it take to get to cap? Presently the cap is level 50, playing 2 hours a day 7 days a week and consistently leveling (not socializing) what would be the average required time to get to level 50?

2.) ***What will endgame look like?*** Very important question that ALL my guildmates are asking.

Thanks for any answers.

Those are questions that haven't been addressed by the developers yet. There is a discussion going on in the official HJ forums about how GM's should run real time events though. You're probably familiar with them from your days in Gemstone. Major events that had a lasting impact on the world. Events that would take weeks, even months to complete. The developers are planning to include those same type of events in HJ in addition to the standard quests. Any ways, if you're interested, stop on by the forums and add your two cents. Yeah, the main difference with HJ is that Simutronics is attempting to create a game where GMs play an integral role so that the world and story will evolve over time. Their game engine allows changes to the game world to be made on the fly without the need for game clients to download patches for a change to take effect.

For example, in WoW if a level designer changed some terrain around, moved some buildings, added or destroyed foliage, or dropped in some scripted NPCs you would have to download a patch to see the effect. In HJ GMs should be able to have an effect on the game world in real-time and therefore be able to join up to create adventures and evolve the world along with the players.

If we are lucky it could end up something like NWN, but on an MMO scale.

UHm my understanding it that there should be no end - game !! and that the leveling and skill progression should limit the people who can acheive this. Also I am hoping that people are rewarded for non power leveling so that people on a power trip will end up with for a better want of terms an inferior charachter.

But then here is hoping... ( Based on Dragonrealms/Gemstone III there is a good chance it isn't hope.

Hrm, I wish I can directly answer the first, but I really can't.  Not because it's unknown so much as it's a gray area a contract says I can't elaborate on :)

As for the second question, I wouldn't think of level cap in the way you do for World of Warcraft.  Whereas WoW is one kind of game up until level cap, and then after level cap, it's something quite different.

HJ may provide you with a breath of fresh air, in that regard.
