All permadeath does is makes you play JEdi more because if you died 3 times then you had to grind him up all over again. The BH system hardly worked IMO because i never saw a Jedi lose unless he was a nub.

nub or not, there were so many exploits available to jedi to escape a BH encounter is makes me laugh just thinking about it... I totally understand why most BHs I talked to either quit/swapped prof/didnt hunt jedi anymore etc... or ye even grinded one themselves. We had maybe 4-5 really hardcore BHs on the server putting in alot of time hunting Jedi, but 4-5 isnt really enough when you got a thousand peeps lvling padawans

Even with all the exploits and such, it was fun.

That was until all the AFK Raytt Trail grinding where even the CSR's themselves helped the Jedi exploit to gain XP and actually PREVENTED BH's from making kills on the trail by bouncing us out of there. "Sure.. have a Jedi AFK.. that's StarWarzee"

Ahh, Publish 9.  From my viewpoint, SWG went sharply downhill, quickly after this "point of no return."

I remember that Jedi, if you saw them at all, and they didn't want you to see them, were held in awe by the playerbase.  Permadeath and all that.  There was an aura of mystery to them because they were so rare.

Then came Publish 9.  As soon as Publish 9 hit, Jedi were everywhere, parading around major hubs, dueling in public, high traffic areas.  Let me say that I'm a huge fan of the Original Trilogy.  The sight of seeing platoons worth of Jedi at a town without a care in the world was irritating and a huge slight against Star Wars canon.

Like a friend said to me a while back... Lucasfilm / Lucasarts / whatever does the SW books, is going against what the movies established.  According to the Expanded Universe, it seems that the Jedi never faced Order 66 and are running around freely... bah!

Anyways, back to the MMO King of Travesty: Star Wars Galaxies.  After Publish 9, subsequent publishes were essentially "Jedi Publishes" despite the presence of the other professions, tremendous amounts of bugs, etc.

As far as ideas, suggestions, /bug reports, etc., the Pre-NGE playerbase did make alot of them.  The most vivid memory of this for me was Pre-CU.  In the Galactic Civil War Forum, which before the CU was by far the busiest of all the official forums, had a pinned thread.  "100 Ways to Improve the GCW."  It surpassed 100 pages for the thread alone.  Granted, it was rather ad-hoc in organization.  Many players, including myself, put their own ideas as to how to improve the GCW.  But what happened with it?  The thread was deleted.  All 100+ pages of ideas from a concerned playerbase.

We have pleaded for so many things that they have never happened... for the record, we never pleaded to receive anything the likes of the NGE!   We made our displeasure quite known with the NGE, yet we were told to take it or leave it.  Well, we left it.

SOE didn't listen to the 200k-300k subscribers before the NGE.  Matter 'o fact, they sought to replace us with a mystical audience that would materialize with the advent of the NGE.  What makes you think they will listen to what few players they have left with a smaller dev team?

"I have only two out of my company and 20 out of some other company. We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold."      I really wish you people would stop trying to speak for me. I never wanted JEDI or even tried to be a JEDI. I gained Master CH july 03 and stayed a CH till I left just before the launch of the NGE. I was a Master Artsian/Master Medic before I went to CH and bounced from BH to commando skills. Never once droped Master CH once I got it. I was a Master CH/TKA for most of my time after. I Droped TKA to try swordsman, fencer, pikeman and rifleman. I went back to TKA not long after and never changed again.

I understand most people may have felt everyone wanted to be a jedi but I was not one of them and knew of 6 other players I played with that never tried to become jedi. I believe there is a big difference between people that went to the village because they wanted a jedi and someone that went there for something to do. As far as content it was just one of the few things they added even if it was for the wrong reasons. Lets see I rember the warren, corrvette, genosion cave and death watch bunker.

Just because I do not think jedi should have ever been in the game as a player option does not mean I cared if someone did. To me it never made sense JEDi are rare in a sense in any timeline. Not everyone is force senstive and even fewer become JEDI. Jedi to me are nothing but melee fighters that use magic. Which is why I thought it funn when someone would post there should be no melee professions in the game but JEDI should be easier to get. After all the glowstick just a energy sword
