What happens when you die?

I've only ever played FFXI, so I was wondering what happens when your character dies, or gets knocked out, in the game? In FFXI, you could loose up to 10% of your experience based on your tnl. Not only that though, you could stand the chance of deleveling, which imo, was one of the suckier parts of the game.

But yeah, anyway, what happens?

Once you reach zero health you become unconcious...you "can" come back from being in that state provided somebody gets whatever is beating on you off. If you do die...you gain some exp debt,much like City of Heroes/Villains if your familiar with that game. The exp debt is very trivial though...it normally takes a few minutes if that to get rid of it. Although if you die mulitple times in a row the debt can add up. And you can't lose your levell.

On top of whats been said, you take 10% hit to your equipment, it gets no less functional, but when it gets to 0% it will have noeffect, as if you were naked.  You can accrue up to 50% debt  I think, but like the above poster said, it is easily removed by killing a handful of mobs.
