I gave up following this game, last year, to all those that I told it would be a dud...
I told you so. lol.
I can however see AOC being decent a year after it releases, once the majority of players have DX10 cards, and they've worked out the massive balance issues and graphics issues in AOC. By then it will be too late, for WAR will be going strong!
Peace
Yet another WAR Fanboi trolling the AoC forums. Will it ever stop!?!?
I was following AoC over WAR for awhile, then stopped. Plain and simple, I realized that AOC isnt possible at this time... I dont know about you but my time is valuable, and AOC isnt worth my time. Sorry.
Personally, I'm quite glad they delayed AoC. Have you seen the movies from the Leipzig presentation? The combat looks a LOT more realistic and a LOT less clunky.
I learned long ago that there's no point in waiting for anything that doesn't have a solid release date. I learned not quite as long ago that even when you have a solid release date you shouldn't start anticipating anything until you're about a week away. Anything else is more than likely to be changed.
The games that pushed back release dates recently (Pirates of the Burning Sea, Age of Conan, etc.) are the ones that I'm still interested in. Pushing back the date tells me either 1) there were flaws in the game that are being fixed, or 2) the game just wasn't good enough and is being improved. Either way it tells me that the devs are more interested in putting out a quality product than they are in boosting sales. I believe this is a good thing.
Compare that to games like Tabula Rasa which I was interested in until I found out the devs considered it ready to be released in the condition it's currently in, and I'm very glad that Age of Conan won't be released until it's ready.
'sides, maybe by March I'll have found the time to pickup a computer that can actually run it.
OP, you need to relax. In the SD world we call projects like MMO launches "Big-Bang" projects, and they are some of the hardest to develop and release on time since you implement the code all at once, instead of small agile releases which can guarantee a much greater degree of certainly with regards to cost and schedule. In fact, very few big bang projects meet their deadline...has Microsoft ever hit a targeted release date with a new operating system..(or in fact, do their operating systems really work that well initially after release?) You're just way too high strung about this... fact is, this game launches w/o being as polished as LotRO, and fully functional with all the features they promised us and it will be buried by WAR or some other game. They've got too much at stake to screw it all up now by releasing a broken game right now.
Thanks for the support

I would be delighted if AoC came out tomorrow, or in October. I will be dissapointed if it doesn't come out in March - but only a little. Really, it's a game. I have other stuff in my life. I can't see doing a temper tantrum over the delays. The screaming over what happened to SWG makes more sense to me, but people freaking out over the AoC delay need to step outside and check out that thing called "sunshine."

What - you don't get your daily dose of flame posts on the AoC offical boards so you come looking for them here? My hat is off - you are a braver warrior than I!

You are quite welcome....we brothers in the software biz have to stick up for each other...(even though you get to code cool games while I get to develop "business" software). Good luck to AOC and Funcom and I look forward to seeing a successful launch.

The vocal minority who throw hissy fits about AoC's delayed release are more likely than not people who would not end up being long-term, positive contributors to the game's community anyway. Anyone who opts for immediately gratification over a thoroughly thought-out, polished product would be the same person to whine and moan at an unfinished work-in-progress. These folks need to zip it and realize though release delays may be a bit disappointing, they'll benefit us, the players, at the end of the day.
To be honest I like communicating with fans, and the threads and forums being so bombed with old topics or random negativity makes it hard for me to be as involved as I like being.

well Sunshine wasent that good, i mean it wasent a bad movie, but iv deffently seen better. some errors in the movie was pretty funny dough, like if the smartest people on earth really was as stupid as them, we all woulda died out a long time ago..
(i know you meant the real sun, im just joking abit)
More seriously i also laugh abit of people being mad about the realease being pushed away. i dont think i ever seen a mmo meeting its deadline, and i never inspect it to do, until it reaches "gold" status (ready for the presses) that is.
Shit i got better things to be mad about than a game being delayed. (like some of the things happening in politics reasontly). sure im a fan of the game, and its a diffently buy when its released, but i dont get the ammount of anger you put in its delayed status. I mean you dont get anything out of it, anger is a great motivator and should be put into things you have the power to do something about.

I'm with you - the negativity over a game almost no one has played seems completely out of whack. I think though it's a small minority that acts this way - I suspect your servers are going to be severly stressed by all the people who want to play on opening day. Better to delay and give them a satisfying game then worry about flameouts like the OP.
oh great another WAHHHHH WAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! thread about the great decision Funcom made with the delayed release date....GET OVER IT!!! Would you want to waste thousands of dollars worth of development releasing a game thats not up to par with what you wanted JUST because some whiny fanbois cant keep still long enough and demand it come out when they say it should?? i sure wouldnt....go play WoW or something...nothing you can say or do will change the course of the game...and im glad you wont be playing, if i cant stand you now i probably wouldnt be able too in the game lol...

QFT. I couldn't have put it better myself. And think of it this way, if the whiners do play AoC, at least you'll have a chance to behead them ingame, right? With so many MMORPGs tanking due to rushed released and poor, buggy gameplay, you'd think fans would be a little more accomodating when designers take a little more time to put out a quality product.
I still cant believe they pushed it back for the fifth time this year . I got a lot of mixed feelings about the game i guess i was expecting too much outta AOC but so far it doesnt look like a game thats going to change the mmorpgs genre... looks bland and boring but like ppl said it isnt even a beta.
