    I feel for you.

Not wanting to rub it in or anything, but I was waiting until the very last minute to upgrade (I need to get 2 new systems, one for the wife too) - I'll be waiting til sometime in Q1 next year now.

Theres plenty of great games out there. And new ones coming out. Buying a new pc is not a waste by any stretch of the imagination. Its not a useless upgrade.

I build my own PC's as well ... I would never build a PC for either myself or anyone else based on a predicted release date of a game.

On the bright side you may be well set up for Bio-Shock .... failing that get back into WoW and start saving again

Bioshock i agree with, but using a newly upgraded computer to play WoW makes as much sense as putting a Hemi in a Yugo.

Dude, how awesome would it be to go rolling up to a stoplight in a Yugo and then revving your Hemi. The comedy factor alone in that is awesome.

I would have built one if I had the money. Good thing I didn't find a job I guess.

I agree with that statement. I built a new Quad core with an 8800 gtx and 4gigs of ram, went and installed wow which i have been playing since the day it came out and was like lame this is a waste of all this hardware.

So i canceled my account and am now waiting for bioshock.

Lick Here you could be one of the lucky 10!!!

yes i am slightly irratated b/c i built an AMD fx, duel 8800 4 gig of ram comp that will be completely outdated by AOC launch now......  i knew it would happen but it is stil irratating

i blame it on Bob Dole.... not sure why. but it is all his fault

I also built a new PC with AoC in mind. Which is a shame because there is Geforce 9 series and Intel Penryn (45nm) coming out before the end of the year.

This entire thread makes no sense.

You claim to be dissatisfied about upgrading or buying new computers for the Oct. release of AOC yet it's not even october 1st.

    I don't understand

Did you jump the gun and now your blaiming the game?

You can do many things with a good PC. Take advantage of it and stop whining. When AoC comes out your machine will definitly not be outdated. If you configured it wisely, that is!

I think you blackpaint it a bit. You will not have to worry about your graphics setting for at least 3 years. In fact if you are using a 32 bit OS, you will not be able to use all the ram because the OS isn't able to adress it all (2^32 is about 4,29 G)

    Ouch.

I was going to build a new system also. Glad I chose to buy a 360 for now. next year I should be able to get a better system for my money than now. no one knows much about dx10 yet, so its good to wait before spilling out on a dx10 system.

and wtf, bio-shock is not a mmo but a generic shooter. looking like your standard boring FPS to me, the video I saw bored my pants off.

I see the OP's point.   If I was building a PC specificly for AoC  I would wait untill about a month befor it released,  so that I could get the most bang for the buck.   As new computer hardware released the other hardware prices come down.  So you can save some money when your not buying the most top of the line part, and spend that money where it would help the system the most.    Like I said though,  I would have waited longer,  but it seems impatience has struck some of these folks.   Its exciting building a new PC.  I did the same thing for WOW.

Well look at it this way, you could still get into the BETA and make use of the hardware!! Also, once it does come out and you enjoy it on the machine you have now, when you eventually upgrade again, you would appreciate the difference even more!

Yep was the exact thing I was planning to do. Ohwell, now I'll most likely build it with a geforce 9 series.

Indeed.Buying a new pc now purely for a game that could be released in october is dumb. You know all the mmorpgs these days get delayed so you couldv guessed this one would too.Look at the list for games to be released and then check wich ones should have hit the shelves IF the developers kept their word on the initial release date.

Then there's the problem with not even knowing now for sure what the specs for a system purely for age of canon would be.You know how everyone reacted when vanguard just got released.

You probably needed a new one any way and decided to buy a high end one since you wanted to play AOC with ti.So now you can play all sorts of other games on it and if it indeed is a high end one you'll easily be able to play AOC when/if it is released.

Hehe, yeah, perhaps building a PC in anticipation was a bad idea, but I can't give you a hard time since I would have done the same for many games, if I had had money at the time.

I've been waiting for Age of Conan to come around, it seems pretty sweet...

Yeah I was going to buy a new PC around this time too (my old one is 7 years old) but I got lucky and the game got canceld before I went into any serious consideration. Its much better to wait until AFTER the game is released, not only do you get the most bang for your buck but you also get to see if the game is actually worth playing. That way, you dont kick yourself in the head when the game sucks and you bought a 2k computer for nothing.

.... I was going to post something but it's pointless...

  • RailgunnerRailgunner Member Posts: 31

    I did.

Set up a hosted guild website, forums, got a vent server up and running...

Guess it could have been worse... COuld have invested 30 million a few weeks ago like someone did who believed the lies and then have lost 15 million of it in one day when Funcoms stock crashed the day the annouced the game was being delayed.

being annoyed because the game was delayed is reasonable, but trying to comment on the financial facts when it is obvious that you dont have an idea is a bit too much.
