I think that is the point though... why do people gank... to humiliate other players... If they in tern are humiliated it will be far more affective. The devs even commented about this in one of their movies... they did the whole debuff of the player but then wondered why they should stop there. You have to admit... if you are turned into a chicken you can't complain that you did not know you were not suppose to be in that area.

I play games where ganking is a way of life (shadowbane) but it is mostly about the epeen.
Give me permadeath + player ID that is shown on every character and I would agree ganking would be viable. It is far to easy to gank without consequence in these MMOs so why allow it? Ganking is not hardcore PvP... it is usually someone with an inferiority complex that gets his/her kicks but ruining the experience of others.
If you want to proclaim yourself hardcore... prove it... attack players far higher level then yourself and die repeatedly. That is hardcore... anything else is just childish behavior akin to pulling the wings of flies.

I can honestly say that I don't mind being ganked cause I have done it a few times. Comparing a games mechanics to real life war tactics is a bit on the side of futility though. Games are designed to be fun first, not realistic. The majority does not agree with your view of ganking. 2 Carebear? Perhaps. I am assuming you are correlating ganking with griefing too so I will say this. Ganking is at its rawest form "bullying". If EAMythic supported this kind of behaviour they would lose more subs than gain, and fundamentally that would just be a bad buisness judgement.
I said I've ganked but in terms of griefing low level player areas, I can only say the time I did that was in WoW when the game first came out and I was higher level than everyone else. I just never got any satisfaction out of ganking lowbies. To me it's the equivalent of playing tether ball with yourself.

'Training facilities' is one thing and killing kids and civilians is another if you want real comparison of ganking lowbies.

That's the whole point of it to make you look stupid.Going into a low lvl zone just to spoil peoples day is pathetic so turning you into a chicken makes you look pathetic because you are pathetic.
It's been known for a while now. I really doubt turning into a chicken in the lowbie areas, and only being able to peck players for 1 hp, is not all that bad. The idea is actually humorous, I find it funny. This chicken transforming will keep higher leveled players from enter lowbie zones and ganking them for fun.

Ganking lowbies isnt what I call "having the upper hand" its more like talking a walk down to burger king and making sure you kill every single damn bug you happen to pass by... great fun, very rewarding and also educational... if you're a 3year old
On one hand, letting high levels attack low levels is tottal bullshit for the low level, and means the high level is a pussy who cant pvp with people his own level. On the other hand, having a system inplace to stop high levels from attacking low levels means that the game is carebear and puts a fake restriction on things, reducing the ultimate danger ya know? We need a balance between the two hands, maybe this chicken-whatever system will work out (i dont know ANYTHING about it yet) or maybe not, i dont know.
