So they have been showing it to publishers for 9 months and nothing has happened. If it was a great game, publishers would have jumped at the chance to publish it. 9 months and nothing. Its a bad sign. plain and simple
I just don't understand why you continue to post here with such a downer attitude. Nothing will come of it.
I just don't understand naive people like you. They have missed their release date by over 5 years, and you pretend that nothing is wrong. You really are living in a fantasy world.
In 2004 I started voicing my doubts about this game, based on the slow progress it was making. All the fanbois screamed at me, saying that this game would be released in 2004 for sure, and that I was was totally crazy. Who looks crazy now?
Since when have I acted like nothing was wrong? I think you should read my posts from long ago expressing my doubts about this game. After a while though I realized that my posting was doing nothing helpful for the community here as a whole so I stopped my negative posts. I have other games I can play, I am sure you do as well. If DarkFall ever comes out, I will likely give it a shot, but if not, no big deal. You likely have other games to play as well, so it shouldn't be this big deal to you either. Every post from you here is basically negative.
If you plan on playing this game then express your doubts but do it in a constructive way, not troll. If you have no plans on playing this game, than what the hell are you even doing here? I still say you look crazy for this, not I. Also, "fanboi" and "hater" are the two most over used words on this folder, and for that, they hold no weight and hurt your arguments and detract from your posts. Let it go.
Personally I hope they don't get some big publisher to come in and try to put their perspective on things. The only thing big companies add to the mix besides financial backing and quick production/release times are the fact that they suck the innovation out of any given project. We've seen it before and we'll see it again.
One of the main things that can go wrong with this title is trying to rush a release when the developers don't think they've made do on the ideas they want implemented. I'd rather wait for the small company to produce something that truly credits the title of "Next Gen" rather than whining about the fact I can't play a crap game that was released before it was ready.
All big developers/producers do is suck the life out of innovation. They care for nothing else than padding pockets of themselves and the many employees they have. So for those of you who frown upon small companies and think they're all crap. I say to you without them there would be NO innovative ideas in this industry thats slowly stagnating.

In all technicality only 2 years. Do you really think that when Rasorwax and aventurine joined that the same year their going to launch beta? Especially with those kinds of graphics they had? They had a bigger company, bigger pockets, and a bigger dev team. Even they realized that at the time their graphics were of sub-par and alot of work needed to be done. Until then it wasnt more than a couple of guys working in a basement.
Fact: No public beta yet. Fact: A little less than 4 months left in 2007. Fact: Unless I missed an announcement they have no publisher yet. Equals: Darkfall will more than likely NOT release this year, but hopefully mid-next year.
I still dont see where you piece together that it will come mid-next year. Also its four months. A lot can happen in that amount of time.
well probably before AoC lol 2009, probably early 2010 for AoC. Darkfall release Q1 2008.
Explain to me how darkfall will be ready to relese in Q1 2008 if they haven't hadeven announced a beta yet?
Fixed
Don't get me wrong. I would love to see Darkfall and play it. If it's anything even remotely close to what it's promising it'll be great. But I'm not holding my breath at this point. Anyone can say they're ready for beta. But the bottom line is that it doesn't matter what they SAY. As has been said many times:
Their publishing method has nothing, zero, zip, nada, to do with launching a beta or not. If they're ready for a beta they should be in beta to try to have it ready by the holidays. Otherwise they are going to miss their single best chance to get it widely distributed quickly.
Currently Playing: Dungeons and Dragons Online. Sig image Pending Still in: A couple Betas
I personally am going to play DF. I'll just play AoC or WAR for a while, and then after the game dies it'll only be a year or two before release.(this joke was not meant to be spiteful, just a joke about how the devs lack any evidence of a near release)
Sereously though, I would be a good game but it isn't coming out any time soon, if at all. It all looks good on paper but it would look better on my monitor. So to the OP that's pretty good progress, impressive. To all the people who think that DF is coming out Q4 2007 or even Q1,2 or 3 of 2008, I think you really shouldn't hold your breath.

Unfortuneately no publishing has to do with with launching beta. A publisher could set up servers, maitnenece, ect. everything they need to run it. No running costs money and with no income. If there going to do that they mine as well self-publish but they need to weigh their options against publishing.

It isn't worth it Ques. No matter how much you explain things, people just don't understand and attempt to put the game down. It is the nature of forums, unfortunately.

Perhaps, by some god given grace, he will understand it.

Their publishing method has EVERYTHING to do with launching a beta. As I understand it, they are thinking if they are going to publish it them selves or setting up a contract with an external publisher. Selfpublishing will take millions of HW investments plus they probably do not have the internal resources to pull it off at a release-candidate beta with thousands of players. Getting a publisher will probably take a big cut of the earnings so they will have to find what alternative is the best for their investors and themselves. Investing almost 5 years of their lives to Darkfall, I for one understand why they may want to take their time. Hurry their launch is the worst thing they can do if their product is unfinished and untested.
