Bounty Bay Online

I saw this game listed on fileplanet as an open beta and was wondering if anybody knows if it's worth the download. I have never heard of this game until 20 minutes ago.

Here's a link to their website http://bbo.yusho.de/en/Startpage/

I don't know, but it's an interesting looking game. Maybe. I'm not done looking through their site yet. (I'm very sure that lots of gamers will find this interesting though)

One thing I noticed was this......

We are starting with the task “The New Expedition”. To solve this task we have to find Boobies.

    Whoe! hehehe

I'm still trying to determine how big or small the exploration lands, cities, etc, are. If they are small zones, that's going to hurt this game for me. Still might try it though.

    Once upon a time....

May just be me, but that looks EXACTLY like Voyage Century.  I saw the char selection screen, and bam it clicked.  There is no difference between the two screens.  So instead of playing an open beta, go and play voyage century (which has already been released and playable for free).

Well, it is not the same and VCO is not really for free! And, yes, BBO is worth the download.

    Differences between BBO and VCO!

A player who started with the German BBO version wanted to know what the differences between VCO and BBO were. Before he decided it was worth the money he was going to have to pay to play BBO, he decided to play a bit of VCO and find out for himself if it was really worth it.

In VCO there is no monthly fee, instead you have the option to buy point cards. With these points you can then buy different items and services in the game, which you get automatically with a BBO account.

A few examples of what he learned he would have to pay in points in order to get the same things he would get with BBO for free are as follows.

    Bank safe deposit box:

In BBO you already start with a safe deposit box which you have to pay 100 points (3.89€) to open in VCO. In BBO you can expand a safe-deposit box with 6 extra slots once per month per account (per account, not per character) In VCO each expansion of a safe-deposit box costs 500 points (19.44€). In BBO it would take 30 months until you have all 180 slots free. The cost of all 30 months for his account would be 274.80€. In order to open all these slots alone would be 567.53€, or for the most inexpensive way possible 534.47€. So he realized in order to get all the safe-deposit box slots alone he would have to pay more than the 30 months for BBO.

Downgrading Skills to level 31 and forgetting stunt skills:

In BBO you can forget all your stunt skills from a skill in order to reapply them to a different stunt skill in that skill once per month per account for free, in VCO this option costs 300 points (11.66€). In BBO you can downgrade 1 skill to level 31 per account per month for free, this would cost 500 points (19.44€) in VCO.

    Pet bait:

In BBO you can get pet bait by completing special quests which have been developed by Yusho, in VCO you will normally pay 200 points (7.77€)

    Resource area passes:

In BBO you can get these resource passes by completing special quests developed by Yusho which can be completed every 48 hours, in VCO each ticket costs 60 points (2.33€). In order to get the same amount of tickets as is possible with BBO you would have to pay 900 points (34.98€)

    Siege ships and statues:

In BBO, siege ships cost 10,000,000 to 15,000,000 silver coins, in VCO each one costs 600 points (23.32€). Statues cost 500,000 to 3,000,000 depending on the type. In VCO each statue costs 120 points (4.66€)

    19.44€ (500 Points) < Expanding bank safe-deposit box

    15.55€ (400 Points) < Downgrading 1 Skill (sometimes 300, sometimes 500)

7.77€ (200 Points) < 1 Pet bait – If you buy only 1 per month

9.32€ (240 Points) < 4 Resource area passes – If you buy only 1 per week

    Total: 52.08€ (1340 Points)/month

    Quote:

“52.08€ per month for roughly the same game content as you get with BBO. Therefore 9.16 per month is actually really cheap, even if you don’t use everything all the time. Now if you decide to use the city siege items with your guild, this will really make it worth your money, the siege ship alone costs more than an entire month subscription to BBO (23.32€)!”

Regardless the annoying kids on the VCO Server and the rediculous "fun-items" you can buy in the VCO Item Mall and regardles the non native support you get there! BBO is surely the much better choice and regarding the gameplay and options the much better balanced setup!

    best wishes

I recommend playing Voyage Century, then if you like it you can decide on how commited you want to be.  Resetting skills isn't a must so putting that option into the total cost is a bit off.  Also the top ships may cost in game cash but you can always buy em off veteran players later on for in game cash , so again bit of misinformation.  Safe deposit box....not exactly a gigantic priority.

To me the game is not pay to play material.  Game was developed with free to play in mind . The game overall lacks the graphical quality and number of features to be worth paying for.

Here is the bottom line :

Voyage Century - you can play 98% of the content free

Bounty Bay - you have to pay monthly fees to play (same exact game)

To me the choice is obvious
