First impression

I saw the ad for the free to play and so I said to myself why not. So I made an account, downloaded the game for 2 hours then I log in ok first thing first, the character creation is VERY limited. Only four races? And very limited amount of classes where each class is fit to either gender? They had it on Diablo and I hated that but then again it wasn't a 3D game so everyone looked the same. Limited hairstyles, faces, etc. you get it basically, very little variety in making your character unique.

 

So I connect into the game world, optimize my video setting with the bloom setting, AA, etc. and the game all of a sudden looks very sharp. So far so good but then I try to move and that in itself spoiled my experience. The WASD support is pretty much nonexistent. It is slow to react and does not even move accordingly like in most WASD supported MMO games. So all of a sudden I'm having trouble moving around and having to use my mouse to point and click to move. The music is dull and loud by default (of course you could always tone it down) and the questing is nothing out of the ordinary.

 

All in all, I roamed around and explored for maybe 10 minutes before I could not stand the above mentioned problems any longer. Overall, a very poor experience and honestly I know, I didn't play long enough to get a good feel of the game but first impressions are unfortunately strong with me and ArchLord failed to impress.

4 races? Hell, I only seen 3.

And yes, the wasd movement was tacked on, and it shows.

Well while I agree it has it's problems PERHAPS if you did some reading up on the game website you would have solved half your issues.

Hairstyles etc are limited because you can in game pay for them with in game gold to CHANGE them.  second WASD I am left handed I never use them anyways but there is the options(if you had looked) to remap you keys to how you see fit.

 

And you gave it a 10 minute trial and quit well tht is on you if you had done your part and read the info on the game and looked on forums(no not everything is handed to you)

 

Annoys me when people bitch about a game and do not even do the research on how to even play it and complain about features that are there actually.

But it's free move along to a more dumbed down game where everything is easy to understand even for a 5th grader.

Lineage 2 has if I recall 3-4 races only and does quite well.

Uh, no. I'm not a fan of games "holding your hand" like WoW but I should not have to do all that "research" to simply play the game with ease. No matter how you defend it, there's little doubt that this game is horrid. Flat out horrid. There is a reason why they switched to free to play because really, who would actually pay to play this junk?

Your right, it is free but it did take my time but heck, I guess that's on me too. And just for the record, I'm a former player of games like EverQuest, UO, DAoC, EVE, and Vanguard among others so please don't tell me about me enjoying dumbed down games.

First impression. Looked good for a free game. Character customization is usually like any other free MMO, almost non-existant. Anyways, the breaker for me was the constant crashing. Every 10 minutes the game would crash. Didn't matter what I was doing. First time locked my system hard, second crashed to desktop with no error message and third popped up a send error report before I finally uninstalled it.

Then it must be your system...I haven't had any problems and I have basically been playing since beta off and on....

yep, must be your system... i've been playing the game for almost a week now, never had any crashes or lockups

The game is free what do you expect. The graphics are not that bad and the fighting system is great. The skills look very awesome so I don't mind the races.
