Yes my fellow SWG vet's I have decided to return for this 21 day trial and see for myself. Like many here I have continually bashed $OE for what they did to me and thousands upon thousands of my fellow pre-NGE players. Yet it is unfair to continually say this or that is the game we all once loved IF so many changes have come, and we still cry out about the injustice of 11-05.
Smed says the game is improving, Obraik claims the servers are populated, Dev posts state bugs are getting fixed. It's time for me to see for myself if this is the case, or if it's all the same crap $OE has shovled our way for years.
No I'm not re-subscribing blindly, and yet I realize our beloved game is no more until the EMU opens it's doors to allow us back to our game. Still I'm curious as to has it kept getting worse all these months and years since, or have the small 'improvements' helped...
Only time will tell as I walk the streets of Corbantis once more... only 12 hours togo on launcher updates.. I've been gone a long time.

LMAO...if they payed me 15 bucks a month play that i wouldnt do it. It should have never been charged a monthly fee in the first place having never gotten out of the beta stage even now. As for jedi what a sad joke it is. The biggest problem with jedi for me was the whole no padawan how lame u could never take another noob jedi and have them be your padawan like in the movies to train and level up. Dont even get me started on the whole giving jedi away to what a major F over that was on the vets uuugh how the hell is this game in existence?

So I go to dowload the client and BAM it looks like it could take 10 hours or more. Forget it!! If they want me to waste my time and bandwith to download it thats even more time and effort wasted.
If SOE wants me back they can send me a DVD with the all the latest content and expansions for a 30 day trial. They have my address, its not that hard.
I also want to say that I don't care whose fault the CU/NGE was. I despise both LA and SOE equally for wasting 2 years or so of my evenings and weekends to see all that effort wiped by a patch (the CU).
Since I was backstapped by SOE/LA I have not bought any products or games with the SONY, SOE or LA brand on it. This goes from blank media to software titles (both online and offline games and apps) that they just "publish" and even t.v.'s and home stereo equipment. If it says any of those three brands on the product it does not come in my house. This is a promise I made to myself and the 80 or so folks in my guild made as we all cancelled the same day.
As I said above I will give it a try and email all my former guildmates and post it in are forums if SOE/LA shows some remorse and ponies upto the tabke and sends all of us a free DVD in the mail complete with all the expansions for a 30 day trial. If I resub for 2 months after that they get there money back. Heck I might even resub my two accounts to EQ2 which was cancelled the same day as I cancelled my SWG accounts.

This is 2007, bandwidth is cheap/unlimited. Unless of course you're in some 3rd world country. Leave it running over night and by the time you get onto play it the next day it'll be done.

That's funny because I played WoW when it first came out for about 1 month and for a 2 month stretch again over a year ago, and the only thing I've ever recieved from Blizzard was a "reactivate your account and play Burning Crusade for X amount of days for free".
I have, however, recieved 3 21-day vet trials for SWG so far THIS year. Thats a total of 63 days for free!

Im fully prepared to get flamed, but im not going to jump on the bandwagon and scream about how much i want SOE and LA to rot in hell, blah blah blah... I downloaded the client, i patched it, i figured out my login info, i entered the game on my old tailor.
CALL ME A LAME, CHILDISH, SCAB, but i was pleasantly suprized. The crafting station outside Mos Eisley Starport was still there waiting for me. I sat behind the moisture vaporator, and made some jackets. I got up, with players on speeders flying past me, and ran into the cantina. There was a mess of dancers and musicians, all playing away, while a good number of patrons sat and relaxed. There were players where you would expect them, it wasn't a wasteland. It felt very much like old SWG, and i was enjoying it.
The only real problem i have is the proffession system, which lacks the diversity of pre-NGE, but isn't what i would call dated. Its no less rigid then WoW. The classes are balanced. When i played pre-NGE, classes were completely polar, with some, like BHs, outweighing all other, and others, like pistoleer and the like hardley seeing any. The crafting system is almost the same, you can choose your path and proceed up it, respecing if you feel the need. You can still have your big gorgeous house in naboo, your harvesters on tatooine, and your TIE avenger.
I admit i was very skeptical about trying it again, but in effect its the same game. I really pisses me off when people complain so much about having to adapt. If you are going to tell everyone how horrible this game is, play the newest chapter, examine the direction the game is going, don't compare it to old old SWG, and keep an open mind. Thank you

Imo this offer only wants to show that game isnt so bad. For those who are really interested in game and SWG world and not just in themselfs, it is good offer to try it for free.
SWG preCU WAS life m8 and they killed it. Good for u that ur happy with it prolly only cuz u dont know the old SWG. The life every city and planet had. 100s-1000s of ppl running around allover trading, chatting, entertaining, fighting and living the saga. Take a peak at the preCU/NGE vidclips on youtube just to get a feeling of what u missed out.
It's simple: the user interface, combat system, crafting system ... okay, everything ... is inferior to what the game once had and more importantly has vastly less potential than the original design had.
It's a different game for a different audience, a cheap knock-off imitation of the game they sold me.
SWG spokespeople will tell you "Oh there's that dedicated hardcore group of vets who badmouth us at every turn but they don't represent significant numbers."
They don't get it. The dedicated hardcore loudmouths are the ones who even care enough to comment on SWG as it exists today. They lost over 200,000 customers when they blew away the original game and most of those folks don't care enough about the current game to bother commenting, they just know it's nothing close to what they originally purchased and never will be.
They have neither the talent nor the motivation at SWG to bring back the game the original purchasers liked. It is gone for good. For those who enjoy the game that replaced it -- hey, more power to you, I'm not here to rain on your parade. But it's not for me, and not for the tens of thousands of people they drove out with one botched decision after another.
SWG is simply a CHEAP imitation of every other MMO out there. Most people will agree it's quality is far below the standards of most of the games on the market. NPC spawns inside of rocks/walls to this day, choppy animations, terrible lag (though no players can be found), the list goes on and on.
How long does it take to fix a game?
You want to be like WoW, great, be like WoW. At least give the playerbase a game that isn't in "beta" 4 years after release... How often in WoW do players see an animal NPCs(Ratsin SWG) spawn inside rocks preventing quests from being completed? Never happened to me when I played WoW, not once.
I really don't think SOE cares much about SWG anymore as that is obvious with the lack of effort on their part. However, if they EVER want the game to have any sort of comeback (which at this point is very unlikely due to the negativity surrounding it) then they are simply going to have to give the public, THE PAYING GAMERS, a product worth paying for.
One more thing, the economy (though completely busted at this point) and the housing system were ALREADY in place and working much more efficiently BEFORE SOE shifted gears towards the NGE, so that can't be used to diffrentiate SWG from other games.
