Why cant I choose all races?

I realized after a friend just bought wow and expansion that I cant choose all the races. I loaded burning crusade on, but I dont think I entered the cd key, is this preventing me from choosing all options?

Yes, you need to input the CD key to play the Draenei and Blood elves
Yep. You need to upgrade your account with the CD key.
