Closing Trading and CCG Forums on Eve-Online.com

"With the contract system and market in game we have decided to close down the trading forums. They were created as a solution to a problem which is now resolved with the contracts system and it is now time to take all trading back in game. These forums have been locked for new threads but you will be able to finish the current trades. The market forums (Sell Orders, Want Ads and Trades, trades and more trades) will be completely removed on Monday two weeks from now, 2007.09.03, giving everyone enough time to finish existing trades. We have also added the Character and Timecode Bazaar forum, which is for selling characters and timecodes only.

Since we now have the CCG website with forums we will be closing down the CCG forums, they will however remain in as read only forums as a form of archive. Instead you will be able to use the CCG website forums to discuss the CCG.

There may be some issues with replying to existing threads in the trade forums, this is caused by caching and should be cleared up in a while.

CCP's forums have been working a lot better than their game has lately, so they decided to nerf them before too many people noticed.

    I love your unbiassed opinions

Anyway on topic i agree that this is a good thing.

    Apparently:

    1) You don't actually use the crappy contracts system that we are expected to now use exclusively.

    2) You don't ever want to buy/sell in-game items or  services that the contract system cannot currently list or handle.

    3) You missed the epic negative reaction on CCP's own forums here:  myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.asp

As far as the card game stuff going away, this is actually a good thing, it really does not belong on the live game forums.

The CCG ppl have there own website and forum so can understand why they will be removed..

But the Trading forum is just plain stupid...

And CCP is now just ignoring there customers... 11 pages with negative reactions and 0 reply's from CCP.

More than 500 posts and this is the only reaction by ccp:

Update: A alternative to the closed EVE-Online trade forums has been opened by Chribba and can be found on his EVE-Live website in the forum section.

I have played off and on for over a year.  I just left last week because school started and I wanted to make sure that goes well before I continue with hobbies. I am a working adult and have to pick my hobbies and timesinks with care.  I set a long skill training and have BPOs researching.  I also have reaserch agents working.  I planned on coming back in a month.

I was planning on making an in game career with industry, selling items, and services.  To hear they are taking out a vital tool for this will make me have to decide to whether or not to come back.  I have tried to use the contract system before and I don't like it.  I think it is lacking.  I don't like the idea of a third party site because it is not linked to the player as is on the official forum.  It opens the door to scammers.

If EVE doesn't return the official forums, make the contracting system function as well as the official forums, or provide a third party site with the tools it needs to match the official forums ability to know who you are dealing with for sure,  I won't come back.

I hope CCP has people looking here and not just  on their forums as I can't post there right now..

Yesterday, we published a news item announcing the closure of the EVE Market channels in two weeks time, as well as immediately turning the EVE: The Second Genesis CCG forums into a read-only archive.

This announcement and the removal of the ability to create new posts in the Market channels were both premature. While the Market forums will eventually be closed, this action will not be taken until the in-game market and contract systems have been made more robust and useful.

The return of the ability to create new posts in the Market forum channels should return during Wednesday's normal maintenance period. The CCG forum channels will remain in their read-only archival state.

The last guy pretty much killed your whining so i dont need to say any more i advice next time you come up with something a bit more substantuall.

Also why would i read the forums AND take it seriously?

Its just full of whiners E-peens and Pirates.

Also at the end of the whining thread you pointed out to me this was posted.

Based upon community feedback, as well as the premature closure of the Market forums before the completion of the in-game market and contract systems, we will not be closing the making the announced changes to the Market forum channels. The CCG forums will remain in their read-only archival state.

Locking this thread so new discussion can be held in this thread concerning the update.

Yeah, I guess you are right,  the EVE-O forums aren't just full of Fanbois who post just to post like some people here (yourself perhaps). Do you actually still play this game or just keep up with what is going on only from what's posted in the MMORPG forums?

When I posted here,  the epic thread was only  10 pages long and the buy/sell forums were locked. Over the course of 24 hours CCP came to its senses and reinstated their most active forums and made that last post you reference and then locked the thread.  This did not happen until there were 25 pages of "WTF" posts pointing out all the necessary  stuff that the contract system won't do that CCP obviously didn't think about before just blindly removing the forums.

If anyone just got their point "killed" it was you. Please try to keep up next time and learn what a "whine" is. FYI, Firefox has a built in spell checker, it would help your posts seem more intelligent at least if you were to start using one.
