    My specs are,

    3600 Athlon

    SataRaid

    200 gig Hardrive

    7900 Nvidia card

Viewsponic Wide Flat Screen Monitor 24''

    4 gig's of Corsair (400 mhz)

    Cable connection of 13 mps

I could not even run the game on full or Medium setting's because I lagged way too much and the jerky framerates were just really bad at - 2 fps and 750 Latency. Crashes and bugs like crazy.  Did not see one person in the whole game of playing for 1 week straight.

Yeah... I don't see the point really. Why do you bother to ask in the first place?

    - Can't come up with any original idea to troll about.

I have to agree with Orphes, you should at least be able to run LOTRO easily on that. I have:

3.0 ghz P4 HT, 2 gb RAM, 7600 GT 256 mb video card...

With 22" monitor I use pretty high resolution, and I still used to run LOTRO just a level below max. Quite painlessly, I may add.

Vanguard is another matter, of course. With this setup and on Balanced setting, I get about 25 fps outside when it's unpopulated :) Of course it sometimes hitches and goes down to 5 and well, in cities, it's just a neverending drag. Still, for exploring the world and soloing as I'm doing, I've found it bearable.

I was trying to figure out where that lotro reference came from...  I guess that was something they posted in another forum..anyway.

My comp is similar to the one in the post except:

I run vista (hey if anyone should have problems its me!)

    3800 X2

    no raid setup...

when I played lotro I was running a 7900gt.. it died got replaced with a 8600GTS (so vista + 8 series drivers!!)

2 Gigs of memory...  and comcrap err comcast.. no idea but we're around 10 megs..

Anyway.. I played Vanguard when it came out.  I've been playing it again lately (on the 8600 this time).  I still run into stutter now and then.. but I'm also running a resoluation/texture quality that I couldn't touch before.

That is 1280x1024 and "high" quality on the texture setting.. it actually runs decent.  So if you are willing to drop down it will run. *edit* to clarify I mean it will most likely perform better if you drop settings.. but I'm satisfied with how it runs now.. and when you do turn settings up.. the game is very nice looking..  it still needs work.. but its moving in a good direction imho. (oh crap I just said something positive about a soe game .. I feel dirty almost).

lotro... I ran on the 7900 and 8600 (never noticed much difference)... 1280x1024 and basicly everything max'd.. tho I never run shadows in any mmo (just a personal thing... usually makes any game run like crap).  And never noticed lag... so yes if you were having problems with lotro.. you might want to check something.

I have an idea with what you listed what could be your problem.. but its something you should check into yourself.

Also... there are not a lot of people running around.. but I do see people... this last weekend it was actually "crowded".

Well I mean if you played Starsider (my swg server) before the CU... and then logged in now.. well soe will tell you the server is crowded or picking up people... anyway I play the "rp" server and its crowded in that same SWG Starsider kinda way... /shrugs.

Its more people than I saw.. altho I imagine next week after the mergers it may run like crap.. as there may actually be "crowds" in areas I'm in.

Are you a f***ing Idiot or something?, Can you Comprehend that I was talking about Vanguard. Go troll somewhere else you co*k sucker. Where the f*ck did you come up with LOTRO? I would play with barbies before playing that stupid carebear waist of  a game. My specs are high so go f*ck you're self.

Ye you was talking about Vanguard so was I. The quote from LOTR forum in wich you said your computer doesn't run well is there for the rethorical part, to let me say that your computer is broken. And as your computer is broken ofcourse it won't run Vanguard well, as it actually should be doing with your hardware. You also says straight out here that your computer is high specced wich bring me more close to the point of your computer being bust.

That could not be that hard for you to understand(Comprehend or whatever word you would like to use.) now, could it.

Do not waste your time on this game, its a complete and utter failure. Many friends/guildmates that I play with in EQ2 left for Vanguard..............guess what? EVERY single one of them is back to playing EQ2. Even the Vanguard version of our EQ2 guild broke up. THe game is horrible, no one to group with. NO RAID CONTENT, it sucks!

LOL, thank you for your 3rd party insights :)

The problem is, that vanguard has so much to offer that i am stuck in my mid twenties since 3 weeks. I have multiple 70ies in EQ2. I raided every place but emerald halls in EQ2. I raided all from Drahatar, to godking to deathtoll to freethinker hideout. Thats why i know what i am talking about. Vanguard can be a completely different experience. I still play EQ2 once or twice a week and i will play Kurnak. But the crafter, diplo, sandbox experience in vanguard is something you wont find in EQ2.

  • smutsmut Member Posts: 250

That was most peoples biggest complaint, alot of stuff to do around 20 but no higher end dungeons, nothing to do over 35-40 and not even ONE SINGLE raid zone. BTW there was a new raid zone added to EQ2 about a month ago, along with Neriak and darklight woods for newbie area. RoK comes out in 2 months so there will be LOTS of stuff to do then. Im playing other games until then. I do all the high end raiding stuff in eq2 as well.

Game runs alright...I suppose it runs better for me, but I did up my RAM to 2GB since the GU so I don't know what helped the most. It still needs more optimization by far but it's not unplayable....

  • FluteFlute Member UncommonPosts: 455

I decided to tempt fate and have a look at running Vanguard again, mostly to see how SoE handle this server merge (they did really badly last time I encountered that from them in EQII, but in fairness I want to see if they have learnt.  So far my impression is firmly "no").

Anyway, despite having a not bad PC, day before yesterday I had three crash to desktops and bad chunking.  In fariness, the crash to desktops were fewer than a couple of months ago, I didn't have any crash to reboots, and chunking was much worse back then, but in my view for a "modern" MMORPG Vanguard really is not up to spec yet.  It is better than it was, but on a machine that runs WoW super smoothly Vanguard should be better than it does.   It really shouldn't be repeatedly freezing up waiting to calculate the completed xp for a work order item and generate the loot box - I mean what's up with that?

And yes, before anyone says "you need to tweak you INI settings etc", I am opinionated - in my view when you install a game it should run well.  You should not need to be a computer tech-head to "make a game playable": the game should work that part out for you to begin with, and only then if you know what you are doing should you need to fiddle with settings to improve performance to your style and taste.

So overall, no, in my view Vangaurd is still not ready yet, don't buy it. unless of course you want to jump on for a month and try to keep your character's names, which is in my view a completely legitimate tactic!  Three months more and it might actually be pretty decent, but at the moment chunking is bad, the avatars look plastic, they still have shiny vinyl plastic wolves that look like the fell out of a Lego MMORPG, and to top it all off an outpost or worse a city has a good chance of crashing you to desktop.

  • KilmarKilmar Member UncommonPosts: 844

I play vg on high quality settings with up to 75 fps. Only the memory leak crashs still bother me, but the performance is great in the meantime (with 8800gtx, 2gb ram, c2d 2.4ghz). Without the crashs it would be really nice to play.

i got a buddy key a couple of days ago, decided to give vanguard another shot after the poor beta performance, i must say im impressed, sure the game aint finished yet still lacks some content, animations fixing, etc... , but its on the right track, my fps are always 75+, and im having alot of fun so far, SOE is doing a good job imo, with a bit more work VG can actually be a better game. just my 2 cents.

you sound like yet another SOE MOLE thats invaded this site since you took over

anyone that says vangaurd has improved is full of shit just because they post a zillion bug fixes on the soe site doesnt mean fark all  when u still cant even train half of your basic noob skills in the starting areas cause the trainers glitch out an even sometimes disapear into the ground or a wall

thus making over 50% of the starting areas useless beyond belief

i played beta , played off a buddy key an launch

played off another buddy key that ended last week

    all i can say is

    Cheer up, sleepy jean.

    Oh, what can it mean.

    To a daydream believer

    And a homecoming queen

umm ok. it has improved for me though, and you cant say it did not. just because it sucks to play for you doesn't mean that everyone else is in the same thing. I have seen improvements in the game. And since i want to play it good, yes i go into the .ini to make it run better. The .ini is just a temp fix until soe fully fixes vanguard.

    p4 3.26 ghz
    1.5gb ram
    gf 7800 GS

Your specs will run the game just fine.  I would suggest upgrading to 2gigs of ram isntead of 1.5, but that's up to you and your financial situation.

You can expect to get 20 to 30 FPS in the wilderness and 10 to 20 in cities with that setup if not better.  Keep in mind there are areas in the game where your FPS will dip badly just because they have not fully optomized that area yet.

I run a p4 3ghz, 2gb ram, and gf6600gt video card.  I get the FPS I stated above, so you might get better then that since your video card is newer then mine.

The one thing to keep in mind is that Vanguard does use up a lot of ram, and it is highly likely it will use up every bit of that 1.5gb of ram.  I have a Logitech L15 keyboard which has a LCD monitor on it that tells me the cpu and memory usage at all times.  When playing Vanguard, I see that the game uses up between 50% and 70% of my 2gb of ram depending on how long I play and where I go.  There are memory leaks in the game still, so that plays a factor as well.

Oh... and remember.. the first thing you do when getting in game is make a macro key for "/flush".  Use it.. Use it often. haha...
