Those of you getting the game, which would you rather have? Also, can you pre-order a collector's edition and get it all?

- a DVD with the game client,

- bonus wallpapers and art.

collector's edition:

This special retail box offers customers exclusive in-game items, including

- a special character emote,

- exclusive dye recipes players can use to create unique armor colors,

- and a unique pet.

Players who purchase the Limited Collector's Edition box also receive

- a briefing from Richard Garriott's alter-ego in the game, General British,

- classified maps,

- an Allied Free Sentients (AFS) field guide,

Well the pre-order is also a discount off the retail price.

So no reason you couldnt apply it to the collectors edition.

My expectation (no proof though) is that the collectors edition things like emote, pet etc should be different to the pre-order or whats the point.

Definitely Collector's.  Even if you don't really think all the extras are that appealing to you, think of it like this:

For the prices I've checked, the pre-order is ten dollars cheaper than the Collector's, and the monthly subscription fee is $12 (or something to that effect, one gets the idea).  With the Collector's you get thirty days free, which is the amount you would be paying anyway if you just got the standard pre-order and played for a month, so ultimately the prices level out reasonably well.  Why not get the little more extras for the money you'll ultimately spend anyway, and go Collector's?

Not quite - please point out any mmorpg where you buy the box and it doesnt include 30 days play. They all do.

I've already ordered the pre-order bonus pack from NCsoft.

Next time I am in Game i'll pre-order the collectors edition and I'll pre-order a normal game box too. And if they don't have any pre-order bonus packs in stock, I'll order a pre-order bonus pack from them too.

    Hope that is confusing enough.

I'll put it another way.  Real fanbois will get everything, several times, just so they can have a pre-ordered pre-order bonus pack still in its cellophane wrapping.

If I bought the game it would be the collectors edition. But being in the beta this game is not ready to go live. With a 8800 and a ati 2900 which I cant play with all the settings STILL and with both cards the ground is always like morphing lol and the shadows keep moving and that is just the start of bugs that are STILL in the game. But were not talking about a game like WOW, WOW being like a A and this game like a c rating. And no way would I pay $15 a month. There are some really good ones coming out that are worth that much a month. But thats just me.
  • Is it possible to get into the beta if you buy the pre-order pack or something? i really want to give this game a try before it get launched.

Don't do it I am warning you, You are going to hate it. That game sucked more ass then any other game I have played. Just trying to help you save 50$. Just my opinion but I played the beta and the core of the game with the mmo style just sucked ahole.

It was like playing Star Wars Galaxies all over again except as a shooter game and thats it. no skill just click a mouse button and you shoot and reload thats all.

mmorpg's flop faster then mcdonalds cheese burgers these days.

If it is just  your opinion then you wouldn't be using strong arm verbal tactics in attempt to persuade people to your way of thinking. Also judging from your explainations of the gameplay you must've played TR for all of 15 minutes before drawing your oh-so-expert opinion on it.

I hope most people who visit here have the common sense to try it first before taking what you say as truth.

t's only 5 dollars to get in the beta and play Tabula Rasa and draw your conclusions. Don't let what trolls say influence your buying decisions.

I thought I would see what games you did like, so I had a look at your posting history.  It seems you dont like any game.

Maybe cause you have a duff computer.

Whoa, that is a bit harsh. This is not a mindless no skill game at all. You have to think on your toes, pay attention to your ammo, pay attention to your gun jamming, pay attention to which type of weapon you are using, because some are better against certain mobs or for taking down armor etc. You have a small, yet growing amount of skills in which you can also deploy against the mobs, not to mention the damage mitigation you can get from ducking behind objects for cover. The story line is interesting and the quest do not seem boring. And all of this info is available from various sources online so I am not breaking any NDAs by saying this.

Overall, I think it is shaping up to be a good game. It is certainly not SWG pre cu but then again you shouldn't expect it to be. I can tell you that it is certainly more entertaining than LOTRO. However, it is very important that you make up your own mind as to whether or not you will enjoy the game. Go ahead and pre-order. You are guaranteed to get into closed beta, though you should be aware that the servers are only up at certain times so you may not get in the moment you sign up.

Just remember that it is YOUR opinion that counts. Not mine, not the fanbois, and not the haters. Try it out, if you like it, great. If not then try something else.

I would choose the Pre-Oder without all the fluff.

I don’t want dog tags or coin to throw away (wow, that is weird, do people actually want some token thing with a space alien on it?), nor a poster, what would someone actually hang this on a wall in their den?

Now the briefing and field guide look good at first glance, but I have discovered after about 10 years of online games that the players are better at writing guides to the game within about 4 hours of the launch than the developers are after 5 years of coding it.

The Maps might be useful though.

I have purchased the pre-order thing for five bucks on NCSoft... but I have yet to look into how that applies to the actual pre-order of the game itself.  I need to go read more about this game (dying for something new to try) as far as the time table for release etc.  It certainly sounds interesting enough for a few bucks investment.

Ok, everyone here seems really confused as to what the pre-order actually is. Having actually READ the details at NCSoft.com, heres what it is:

If you preorder from NCSoft, you get access to the beta, as far as i know now. You also get to get into the game 3 days before the retail launch of the game. Ive done this with a few other games. Its really great for reserving the name you actually want intead of getting stuck with something else. The $5 you pay also goes toward the retail purchase after launch, but only if you purchase it from NCSoft.com. So if you get the regular edition you would pay $45 instead of the $50. same goes for the collectors edition. Hope that clears it up.

Well I have preordered and fully paid for three copies, I love the game. In beta with my son and nephew,

Played last night, will be playing this weekend. I love the game, love the game, one more ime, love the game.

    SO there!

Seriously, this game is for me. I really do like it. I am sick and tired of the Sword/Shield/Magic thing.

I feel as I am part of the game when I am playing.

I hope it does well, as I think it will.

In terms of depth, this game fails but is it fun? From someone like me that prefers complicated games like EvE, TR is really good. I think it's worth trying the beta to see if it's your cup of tea.

I have a solid kit that allows me to run this game at full scope. All I can say is, it's quite impressive. Sure, the game still has it's flaws but it is extermely far from being crap. TR is problaly one of the best title to come out this year. Of course that is based on my opinion and I am aware that several other titles are about to hit the market before Q1 2008.

In conclusion, Tabula Rasa deserves a fair try.
