ToA was really an expansion which they should better delete again, for the sake of gameplay and balance. I wouldn't mind the money I have spent on it, rather a balanced game!
Just because someone doesn't like Daoc because they get pwned by stealthers doesn't mean people have to listen to them cry. I know alot of good people on Daoc that are just fine with how the expansions r working. And R v R is the best of Daoc.....
For u crybabes... Make a 50 Stealther, get artifacts, and get revenge!!!!!!!!

Daoc is L33T!!!
"A lv 50 Necromancer is the Life of Me!"
Erm i was playing a merc ever since launch as my main character and have no problems with him or getting owned.Even before they became the FoTM.
I certainly never had an issue with stealthers since i am what you call a pack hunter hehe.
Now if you bother reading the complaints many have with ToA you would not make such a dumb remark.Since it has nothing to do with class balance, getting owned or been uber.

Please don't flame on this board. When you make a post people are allowed to comment on it. Otherwise take it to the PMs. by the way, pets owned and artifacts killed the game by making people gimp if they did not have master skills.

I played a merc as well. Stealthers never bothered me. I cancelled due to ToA. The 3rd day after ToA released out I cancelled. Of course some people will like always like this game.
omg.. i just reactivated my shrouded isles account after a long times break and i must say im really, really disapointed the way it has gone to i dont have toa, so i cant get artifacts and equipment which means i will suck at rvr.. and tbh i couldnt be bothered anyway to spend hours and hours pve for that. i thought after getting to 50 i could just relax but nope.. i hate when mmorpgs get item-centered (this happened with uo too)
I have been a hardcore DAoC player for about a year now. After i lvled to 50 the game took on a whole new aspect. True you need to get item in TOA to be a combatant in RVR, but the ting is if you get to lvl 50 and there is nothing else for you to do but run around RVR and fight you will soon get bored of the game or the char and make a newone or leave entierly. This makes TOA a nessary aspect that needs to be addressed.
ok i've gotte nto vl 50 with alot of hard work and determination....now what?
With TOA you can get artifacts that you need to lvl and you also need ML's to compete in RVR which will keep you playing a char that you have been playing for along time and enjoy playing without getting bored.
yea those beefs are all true. so whats the moral of the story? if you're gonna bother playing daoc, play on mordred. the other servers are boring. sick of pve? join the club, i was sick of it after the first skeleton i killed back in 1997 playing UO. want to have fun leveling? do it on a pvp server where you gotta constantly watch your back, and you never know when a pvp fight is gonna come along. keeps you aware and having fun the whole time, unlike hte other servers where you can freely level and not worry about being pk'd. no wonder thats boring, risk is what makes things fun.

I have to weigh in also. Neocrap 1 and 2 are both terrible.
As an MMORPG game designer (wont say for whom) this should never have been taken out of alpha.
I for one have several different accounts and have played since launch.
I think what the folks are most unhappy about is not getting ganked by any stealther (I got two) or any such thing. What I read in the beginning of the thread is that Mythic has chosen repeatedly to nerf certain classes of characters. I know you can argue that they have nerfed all of the classes across the realms. But in the beginning some classes where much more powerful than it's equivalent in another realm. But, this was made up by another class in the other realm. Somewhere along the line Mythic got its priorities skewed and have really created an unfair and unbalanced system. Especially with the release of NF. Don't believe me? Look at all of the folks, especially the old folks that are bailing or talking of bailing. This is pretty much across all of the realms. Peoples frustrations are mounting more and more.
Mythics solution: To give Hibernia two additional classes and Midgard 1 additional class to try to persuade the heavily populated Albion population (across all of the servers) to abandon their loved realm and go running to Hibernia or Midgard. In my humble opinion; bad move. Just another unthought out move due to their frustration of the dwindling accounts or the threats of peeps leaving.
For those that are frustrated in the underpopulated realms this is travesty. One of the posters were correct in that to advance in this game you will have to continually purchase expansions. I believe this is so with most of the MMORPG's that are now on the market. This does nothing for the new player. It only leaves them further and further behind.
This said, thus far I complain and gripe to my buddies but I still play. Believe me, I have tried many other games but DAoC still remains the best to me. I anticipate the start of the open beta for "The Saga or Rhyzom" and hope that the hype that has caused my expectations to be high are not ganked. Oh, I expect the bugs and crashes of any new beta but I will be looking at the gameplay, features and potential.
As for DAoC? Great game for those that have been there before ToA. For the newb though. Sadly I don't recommend it. Although, as I said previously many are leaving. Perhaps it is time for a new generation of players.
Originally posted by brostyn I started playing DAoC in Feb. of '03. Was the best game I ever played thanks to the RvR. Getting to 50 was not so bad. Thank god, because after 3 years of EQ I was done with PvE. Then what do they do? Come out with ToA. This makes the game exactly like EQ. I tried it out, but its too much camping for a RvR game. EQ is king when it comes to PvE. I don't know why DAoC tried to move in on their territory. Their playerbase didn't want PvE, obviously or we wouldn't be playing. IMO, they really messed up on this and no way I am ever coming back. In over 1 year I haven't even thought about reinstalling. I posted this because I won't people who are thinking about this to just pass on by. If your looking for something different from EQ this isn't it anymore. Not only do you have to get to 50 now, but you need to get artifacts and all the other junk I forget whats in ToA before you can RvR. If you don't mind PvE this isn't the game either because that area isn't fun, imo of course.
Originally posted by brostyn I recently resubscribed when I heard about the new expansion. Now I used to love DAoC. I was never a fan a PvP until I tried out DAoC. They really struck gold, imo. Then came out ToA. PvE fest. I cancelled, because EQ is king at PvE. Then Mythic comes out with a RvR expansion, and I think to myself "oh goody they are getting back to what made them popular". Oh boy, was I ever wrong. Tanks are now as boring as clerics to play. Forgot the thrill of combat, your palms sweating as you near the enemy. Too excited to take a sip of your pepsi lest you die by a sneak. Its now a snooze fest. Tanks can either click a button and fire siege at a wall, or sit and wait for 1-3 hours for the 5 minutes of action. Want to level another toon? Good luck finding anyone to group with. Pet classes have been nerfed, because the aggro is transferred to the pet owner, and very poor pathing has always been in. Ever see a cloth wearer tank? Me neither, because being 4 shooted isn't tanking. I could have handled the nerf to tanks, but when no one is leveling its just not right. Like me you may remember when getting groups was easy. I am not exaggerating when I say they are non-existent. Its gone down into history as ancient lore. People are leaving by the boatloads, too. Do not expect to see any of your friends you once had. I saw 1 person out of about 20 that I was close to. I wanted DAoC to work out. I really did. I stayed subscribed for about 1.5 months after I realized NF was another untested unthoughtout expansion. Its amazing to me how a game that revolutionized PvP feel into the trap of ruining its own game. Again please heed my warning. There was a reason why you canceled in the first place. Things have only gone downhill. If you need further convincing visit the community VN boards. Not many people have good things to say about this game. Good luck to you all, and let us hope WoW, EQ2, or Guildwars can feel this void of cheap games that are now bombarding us.
This is the second post by Brostyn about how much he hates DAOC. He seems hell bent on convincing the world that DAOC is the devil. But mum, mumm but mumma said DAOC is the devil!! His first post a couple months ago is a dramatically well written blob of a paragraph which can be so eloquently viewed here:
After reading his well crafted synopsis of the game I had to take a moment and reflect on the words he had so thoughtfully written. I had to ask myself "Why AM I playing this game?" Then those great words of wisdom resonated within me, "I cancelled, because EQ is king at PvE". Then a bell rang, or was it the door bell, no matter, then I realized that I needed to cancel my account too! His words forged an undescribable movement within me and both my arms snapped out stretced from my body, parallel with each other and I began to moan taking small, slow, awkward steps to the computer. Having no control over my hands they hastily grabbed the mouse and clicked the unsubscribed button! Afterwards I felt I had awoken from a dream with an extreme headache but not from the spine tingling disertation Brostyn gave but because my roommate hit me over the head to snap me out of a zombie like hypnotization.
Never had the written word affected me so. The mighty word can move mountains and if it were not for the wisdom of Brostyn, which I think is a better name "Brostyn the Wise", I would still be playing that gimp of an EQ clone. Hail the freer of the DAOC SLAVES!, Hail! I was bound now I am free, I was lost now I am found, I was hated now I am loved! Without this guidance I would be but empty footprints washed up by a sea of an "bombardment of cheap games".
Thank you so much, it was a zen moment, a moment of enlightenment.

DAoC was great in the beginning. I played right from the start and I loved it...for a few months. After a few levels I got into fighting. It was great! never anything so creative like skills that give special styles and spells. Now...I hate DAoC, and i left my favourite game to play it, but I can never go back. I've played DAoC on and off through expansions, and IMO they screwed it. NF was a little late, and I agree with everyones opinion about how ToA has mostly screwed the game up. Bots...the reason why most mmorpgs dont do anything about bots is because they make money off of them. I hate that. It totally degrades the experience of the game. I used to be able to find accepting groups at lower levels, yet now, everything is PLing if you're in the right guild, and leveling is very slow for others. It's a grind, and ToA made it worse. I still think RvR is the greatest concept of DAoC. It's really fun when you get into it, but the slightest imbalance means a class can get hit with a nerfing bat. RvR wasnt enough to keep me in the game. New Frontiers allowed the newbies to get in earlier and earn exp while fighting, but the one message still bothered me: "This person has been killed to recently to get any experience for the kill."
I came to DAoC from a year of playing SWG. I got pissed off at the PvP there not being an option I could turn off. Only a couple times did I get into a fight with someone heads up. Most of the time I would get attacked for PvP as I finished a challenging PvE battle with most of my resources spent.
So I quit SWG and came to DAoC to play on the Gheris server which is PvE only. Unfortunately the lack of development flexability in the game which is like a 1978 version of D&D is wholey unacceptable to me. I won't be back for this reason. I went back to WWII Online, where I always end up.
