Halloween Events?

healz4uhealz4u Member Posts: 1,065

Hello, Fellow EQ 2 Players!

I am a relatively new player (level 24, but a friend who joined after me is already 41!), and I have always enjoyed the EQ 1 Halloween events in the game.  In fact, it was probably what I liked most about the progression servers in EQ 1.

Anyway, I have not had time to log into the game much lately (school).  Therefore, i was hoping if a veteran player could share some insights if EQ 2 has Halloween events and if so what are they like?  Thank you!

From what I remember there are several things happening.  Basically SOE runs the same event in EQ2 every year which includes a special zone.

Firstly they usually have a "trick or treat" quest in North Qeynos.  Secondly you will notice NPC's have pumpkin, black cat, skelle heads that are oversized.  Players can gain these fluff rewards also.

They have a haunted house which you can walk through and do stuff in.  There is usually some special mobs that spawn in Antonica and Freeport which give very nice rewards.

    That's all I know of.

The haunted house was a progression of puzzles and some mobs, scaled to level.  The exp and item rewards are very good.  Last year's frostfell event in December was very good as well.  There was a bunch of content for that one, including special crafted holiday things for house and person.

I have to agree. Last years Frostfell was fantastic. I hope they do it again this year. The others covered Halloween but considering what a big hit Frostfell was last year, they may do something different this year.

Oh, great!  I might even pick up the anniversary edition for EQ 1 just for the Halloween stuff. I did not care for the Christmas stuff too much.

Anyway, I look forward to EQ 2's Halloween events!

Thanks for the information.  The Haunted House sounds like a lot of fun.

My wifes house has a room thats packed full of Frostfell items. Their holiday events are top notch in EQ2, I even talked my brother into signing back up for the holidays and we had a blast.  I am looking forward to halloween and Frostfell this year. Hopefully I will have room for all the new stuff.

I'm relatively new to the game, where do these events happen? Do I need to go to a certain place in the game to participate, or is it... ah... everywhere?

They're usually held in Qeynos harbour, South and North Qeynos and their equivelents in Freeport.

I'm not sure how they do it in Freeport because I can't stand Freeport so rarely ever go there, but in Qeynos, last year it was held by the clock in Qeynos Harbor. You could click on a chest and it sent you to the land of Frostfell where you wandered around grabbing presents and there were places you could make special objects for Frostfell, like candy canes, bows, candles, snowmen, food (like roast bird and egg nog) and presents. Inside the area there were also quests that followed the theme of Scrooge. If I remember, it was in South Qeynos that you could also go to the big mansion and click on the door to get prizes.

There were also quests to get you a Frostfell tree, and to get the lights, etc. You also got a box of chocolates, and there was their own version of Christmas music playing that was kind of like sleighbells mixed with the EQ2 theme.

And there was one more little quest that meant you competed with other people to gather as many candy canes as possible in the area in a certain amount of time. I don't know what the winner received though because I never played it.

They kind of do the same thing for Halloween. But, like I said, I'm not sure what they'll do this year since they did the fairly large change of last years Frostfell celebration. It never used to be that much fun.

LOL, all the talk about Frostfell and the music has me missing it! I can't wait to see it this year.

    Yup. They do.

Others here have mentioned several things, but what really stuck out in my mind last year were the masks that were available for those completing quests. Walking around the city seeing people with a huge goblin heads or an axe sticking out of their character's skull just made me chuckle.

The scare ghoul that pops onto your screen when you're in your house still scares the crap outta me... I can turn it off, but what's the fun in that?

It was a prize for a Halloween quest one year, and at any random moment while you're in your house, or ANYONE is in your house, a ghoul pops onto your, or their, screen and screams and waves his arms in the air. It's sudden and loud, so it scares the bejesus outta me every single time.
