Control problems?

yumadomeyumadome Member Posts: 21

Hello all,

I just downloaded AL when I saw they opened it up for F2P. It looks pretty good but I'm having a lot of problem with control the camera. I try to use the mouse and right-click to drag the camera around and it jumps really bad... no smooth tracking but rather with any input at all, it might swing 90-300 degrees in an instant... no matter how slowly I move the mouse this happens.  I tried the setting for slowing down the mouse but it didn't help.

I have an NVidia 7900 GT card and I just installed the most current drivers... running an AMD dual core 3800+ with 3GB RAM.

Any suggestions? The game plays ok, it's just the camera control that makes it thoroughly unpleasant to play.

Very strange, the cameras smoothe for me. Hmmmm, the only thing i can suggest is maybe re-installing the game, apart from that i dont know what it could be.

Maybe it's your dual core. I know I've had funny experiences with games because of that. In Everquest 2, I could run from one side of the zone to the other in like 5 seconds. Super man speed. In NBA Live, I had fast twitchy animation on the players.

Anyways, might be worth it to try this.

Start up Archlord. Then go to your Task Manager. Right click the Archlord application. Select 'Go to Process.' Right click 'alefclient.exe'. Select 'Set Affinity' and uncheck one of the cpu.

Other than that, I don't know any more advice to give you. lol

This happened to me as well when I first started, in fact I almost quit because it made it feel way to choppy however slowing down the mouse speed took care of it for the most part. Still run into the same problem sometimes while AOE grinding if I start to lag, might have something to do with the 30 mob train

Tinker with your settings, I know its a extremely frustrating. Best of luck, its a good game if you can get past it. It would take some getting used to but the arrow keys also rotate the camera, worth a shot I suppose. Then if its still choppy its most likely lag.. FR problem.

Wart, you are amazing!  That did the trick :)

I've seen what you are talking about in EQ II also... I never knew what caused it and it changed everytime I signed in... of course, it helped a lot in that one quest for racing from point to point! hehehe

Now ArchLord is liable to be a lot more fun :)

Ever since I installed Vista, my games have been running as they are supposed too. But yeah I took advantage of it in Everquest. Getting discovery xp and that heritage quest also. hehe

Thats what I like to see - my question answered before I even asked it!! I've been having similar problems with AL but will try that trick when the servers come back up.

It's even more pointless that you flamed it.
