Sad that GOA felt the need to drag WAR in the mud like that. The person who posted the pics is an idiot. If AoC showed so poorly why did it win the rewards and WAR come in second? Both games are good... making captions like that only detract from the great game of WAR.

It make be wonder. How did AoC really win at the Leipzig GC. Mythic had a better show, free demo test, etc. However AoC team had better ladies. Maybe the judges where a bit quick......make you wonder.....

/agreed that was low and uncalled for. If it was me and I worked hard and I knew we have a real crowd pleaser, then to get snubbedcome award time, id be a little miffed to, its only human. But you do your game no justice by snipping at other game companies. Even if they snipe at you.

Fact is, the Siege demo was behind closed doors. That's why they won. The siege wasn't open to the public to see. The amount of "new" info was certainly greater, but most of it was behind closed doors info, which left their booth sparse.

Oh come on. The comments were on his personal photo account that he so graciously linked. They weren't on their homepage or anything.Lighten up a little. If Jayde had linked to his personal flickr or whatever account and made comments about WoW 2.0 or something in his captions from Leipzig, it would have been the same kind of joke.
A "direct dig" would have been posted in an interview or an official letter, not on his personal photo account as a caption.

But yes, I agree, digging against aoc is uncalled for, it looks like an excellent game, although I feel that having nudity could ruin it by destroying a good community.

Are you serious? It was a caption on a picture that he took. I'm sure he wasn't sitting there thinking "Oh yeah, this will show them all real good" when he typed it. He probably smiled to himself as he typed one of like 30 captions. People that get upset over this... take some Xanax or something. People are allowed to mess around, it's ok.
I find it funny that each side blows off bad behavior like this but then gets up in arms when it is directed at the game they like. The hypocrisy on these two boards sometimes threatens to choke the whole community.

See the bad behavior pointed out about the lead director of AoC was about his "official letter." Had he called another developing company's reason for a push-back bullshit on his own blog or his own website, then there wouldn't have been a problem, but it was in an "official letter."

So the fact that he was posting pictures that were taken on the job means nothing? That he is a representative for GOA, has identified himself as such, and posted links to the pictures on WAR fan sites does not count for anything? Sorry he IS representing GOA even though it is personal space. Anyone with a shred of experience in public relations understands that an employee always represents the company when identified as an employee. How they dress, act, and communicate all can have a reaction to the company they are associated with. Companies fire people over stuff like this.As to it being a joke... fair enough... but it was a bad joke and misleading. You saying I smell bad as a joke is still a personal attack. That is the point... I don't dispute he was joking... however it was a personal attack at the same time. If this was a fan or an independent person in the industry fair enough... but this was a person who works for a competitor. You can spin this in your head however you want... it does not change the fact that it was in poor taste and will have an affect on how GOA is viewed. Why do you think employees who make public responses have disclaimers their views are not the view of their company. Because a rational person can see where people can associate the employee with the company... especially if the comments are inflammatory. Are you denying the captions were not inflammatory?

The community that this was linked to was the WAR fans. Not the AoC fans. If this had been linked to on mmorpg.com or on the AoC forums, or on any general forums, I could see how this would be wrong, but it was linked to WAR fans just to be amusing.
I agree that it was an immature statement, but I disagree with it being wrong and that he shouldn't have done it.
In the venue that he did it, it wasn't wrong. While immature, not wrong. On the fansite it was linked on it was immature, but again not wrong.
It won't have any negative effect on how GOA is viewed from a WAR fan perspective. Because it was a harmless joke.
I am denying that they were inflammatory, because they were personal and not shoved into the faces of AoC fans. If they would have been sent to AoC fans, or AoC employees then they would be inflammatory. Since they were shown to WAR fans and the statement was "Here are some pictures I took." Not "Here are some official GOA pictures" then I dont see it as inflammatory at all.
It was just humorous. Nothing more. While a poor attempt and immature it was still just humor.
I"ve seen many many developers poke fun at other games. Hell people do it daily about WoW. I'm sure I could probably dig up something negative said about WoW by one person from every company in existence. No one says anything about those and their in the public space and readily shown when people are representing their company.
I just think you're taking it a bit too personally.

WAR didn't come in second, WAR wasn't even nominated, for either award.
You really don't look things up do you.They weren't nominated for "one" of the awards. They were nominated for the other one. The link is actually on the AoC boards I believe. But yes WAR was the runner up for one of the 2 awards that AoC got.

And I can even say that you make a point that he should have edited the comments once he realized that they were in the hands of the general public. It was very immature, and no it doesn't look good on GOA.
I think they only targeted AoC because they were across from them as one caption said. So yeah.... it wasn't good natured humor and it shouldn't have been in the public domain.
My defense was that the comments were made on his private space, but you are right I have to admit. As soon as he put them in the public space he should have edited them.

And for the record I didn't say it "absolved" him. I still said it was immature. I just think his expected audience was the right one. I am not upset about anything. I merely stated that this GOA employee lowered the integrity of a great game WAR. Your right ignorance is bliss... there are too many blissful fan boys for AoC and WAR that prefer blind ignorance over questioning anything about the game they follow. Neither side is perfect and only through questioning their actions can they be nudged into the right direction. Questioning is by its very nature a mark or intelligence so blind faith by nature is the root of ignorance. So many people in these forums run on blind faith.
