I just realized I can vote...

I was thinking about it and I turn 18 years old 20 days before the 2008 Presidential Election. I actually have a say in it... weird. God I hope Hillary will lose! I am still torn between voting for Barack Obama, Ron Paul, and Giuliani, and maybe McCain. Im feeling Ron Paul or Barack though. Oh, and just fyi I am a republican, but I don't exclude Democrats, if they're good then I'll take a look at them.

Yea, I'm pretty excited to be able to vote as well.

  • Whatever you vote, just make sure to research your decision and make up your mind for yourself, and no one else.

Isn't that a sort of ironic bit of advice?

I know :) But in a best case scenario he'll read that, dissect it, and take whatever he feels is valuable from the statement (if anything), discarding the rest.

Of course, if he followed my advice for sake of pleasing me, he would negate the act of following my advice by following it for the wrong reason, thus creating a space-time tear and destroying the universe.

So you see, if you don't vote according to your own concience, you will destroy the world.

lol, but seriously I decide who to vote for, for myself, no one else. Everyone who lives around me is Republican, but as you can see I've taken a look at Barack, and to be honest I really liked what I saw, his views are very close to mine and I really like him as a person too. And what I like in Ron Paul is again I like his views, though some differ, I really have a sense of "trust" with him. After reading about him and watching him in his debates, I really like how he thinks and for some reason I feel like I can trust my country to him. So, for me its a tight race between these two, I am not basing it on other people's opinions nor am I basing it on the party they are in. I am looking at both of them from a few different points. 1. them as a person, 2. their views on issues, 3. the way they think, 4. some other factors. But really just thinking about it I am not sure to whom my vote would go for I hope it ends up being them running. I might have to go for Ron Paul, but knowing my state it'll go to Barack, rendering my vote useless. But, hey I don't care, I vote for who I want.

to me probable the most important and upcoming election for me is the local ones in my city where half of the arguements are about these damn red light cameras and all the scams that they are.

Safe to say i am voting against the bastards that when they installed the camera's change the timing on the lights to make no orange existant practically, caused wrecks making that decision time between stop and run through the intersection almost non existant, and are giving 3/4 the money they make with them to people out of state.

but for presidential i want Mcain all the way.

I would have to vote for Ron Paul because he represents my feelings the most out of the candidates I've given the time of day. My biggest reason is his opposition to the Federal War on Drugs and just maybe certain states will make the decision to decriminalize or perhaps legalize certain drugs.

I like his opposition to the war on drugs and I dislike his pro-strengthening of the borders. But we can't agree on everything, I just hope he gets enough votes for people to notice.

However you vote, you can take comfort in the fact that you have absolutely no influence over the results of the election or the actions of the future administration anyway.

Indeed. The good thing about the current system is that one isn't required to think to make a vote.
