I understand that this game will be heavy on strategy and skill etc. But I still have a few questions about the large PvP fighting.
1. Will people be solid? As in that will it be possible to go right through a characters avatar like in so many other games like WoW, Everquest, SWG etc. If characters aren't solid then it will take a large part OUT of the strategy and formations, because it will literally be possible for one large formation to pass through another without anyone attacking even once.
2. How big of a role will tactics themselves play in the PvP? Will it be like in real life where a large but unorganized/badly led group is easily defeated by a much smaller but better organized/led group? Or will it be more like the larger bunch of people always beats the smaller bunch.
3 And lastly, this isn't much of a question, more like a little discussion topic, but what kind of tactics would you think would work well for many different situations (don't be afraid to speak freely and post large comments).

Thanks for the reply, I was worried really about the first question , but now that I know I am anticipating the game even more.
Collison Detection is awsome for tactical games, but often abandoned by game developers because of the Greifing ability. I loved in UO, when you knew somebody was low on stam (Need full Stam to push somebody) you could block them in, and finish them off without them running off. CD makes PvP more FUN!!! Just sucks when ppl block in you in places where you can't kill them for doing it.
Personaly I am not so sure about col. detection. There should be some CD, but I have heard that it will be off for PvP. I hope its only rumor, but be prepared for this option

False rumor...Only place where collision detection is off is cities and towns to avoid people blocking the ways to banks, shops, etc...
Good to hear ;-) Now I am looking forward to this game a little more.

Games that avoid CD, are just robbing people of the ability to be tactical. IT's NOT about brute force anymore, because if your gonna throw your brute force exactly where I want it I'll be able to defend it. However if I can prevent you from breaking the lines, and keep my healers healing and archers snipping, and Mages Nuking That'll beat the Zerg attack. Eventualy Tactical attacking will win.
Nice
I had totally missed that information, so now im also alittle more exited about the sieges in AoC.
Also the mages wont be nuking like in other games 2 are pet classes and the other 2 are melee hybrids if you want to nuke stuff your best bet might be the druid class who is a healer
Well I think you know what I ment, By MAGE i ment the NORMAL sterotypical Caster Nuker Type Class, AoC has changed the rules a little bit, and you can't just call magic users mages, ect. .. If you can keep your teams weakness protected, and exploit other peoples weakness you'll win. Identify vulnerabilities, and exploit it...
I"m going to make 3 charactors, to get the 3 names I've had since UO. The first one I'm going to play will be a Ranger, because the NEW type of ranged combat has me VERY intriqued. I want to SNIPE FOOLS YO!! lol.
