How do you keep AC Fun?

KruugarKruugar Member Posts: 43

I'm looking for a casual game to play.

I used to play AC hard core on DT but, now I'm looking to play the lighter side of AC.

I've come back a few times before and I left because

- Towns were empty

- I couldn't keep the fun

So how do you keep AC Fun for yourself?

    Titles maybe?

Other than that the new gimmic is to complete the Colosseum ten times.

There is no way. The game has just gotten too dated. If they were to take the exact same game and put the AC2 graphics into the game and tweak the game play, add some more quests to it (it's been a long time since I played, so I don't know if they have done that. I mean, back when I played, the Mattekar Coat was THE BOMB. And everyone had at least 1 set of  Amuli. So, my information may be a little dated.)

I think had they had a little more point to the game (not like most of the MMO's now have a point, but you know what I mean) and perhaps something more in the end game content, it might still be fun. But, with all that being said, I had fun playing that game for about 2 and a half years. I used to spend countless hours in the Acid Vault just killing Olthoi and going to the Obsidian Plains and shooting up some Tusker Guards. Man, those were some fun times.

I have very fond memories of Asheron's Call.

Early WoW matched those memories except, they didn't last nearly as long as they did in AC.

I feel Asheron's Call was hurt greatly by the limited vision of Turbine...

But still, just for something casual to play it wouldn't be that bad if I knew I'd have fun.

How to keep AC alive well :

    1- Make it Vista compatible...

2- Make it free with a subcribtion of either LOTR or DDO.

    Hallo Kruugar,

Very good question: "What to do to have fun in AC".

First of all, fun is a very personal thing. But to try to answer your question I will talk about my own experience and what I see around from other players.

For most players it is important to have contact with others. For doing quests, hunting parties or other activities. Also important is to achieve targets, like levels, titles or nice items.

In those two lines you find more or less the answer, called variation. Never hang to long at one place, never grind endless in a few places. Try to explore, try to quest. There is so much to do in game, it is almost impossible to make a list of it.

Other posters above say there is not  enough to do in game. I don't agree. With the expansion pack ToD they added very much to the known content.Turbine gives every month new quests or other features to explore.  Even after the x-pack they added large hunting grounds. For example Vissidal island, Dark island and Bur. They added new story lines and are always busy to keep up with modern games. In concept is an elder game and a kind of land control. Just a matter of time they bring it out.

But maybe most important of all is to be in an active monarchy. Players gather around mansions and not in towns, because towns are only good for traveling and shopping.  Main reason why the towns look empty.

As monarch of one of the bigger guilds on Solclaim, with many active players around, there is always something to do. Not only game related, but also time to have a chat with each other. So please feel free to look us up in game or by or own website crimsonknights-sc.com

    You won't regret it.

    Lancelore,

    Monarch of the Crimson Knights

Hello all....I am new to this forum and just found it today....I have played Asherons Call for about 6 years and still love it....Occassionally, I have played other games such as City of Heroes and War of Warcraft, but I prefer this game and like the patron/vassal system....Being a patron gives you the opportunity to really get to know whom you are playing with and you develop a somewhat personal relationship with them....Sometimes,  I just come into the game to chat and dont even bother to play.

Although, making xp and  obtaining new and better armor, or quest items is satisfying, it is not the ultimate goal for me, else I could just play a game that is not subscription based...I think there has to be more to a game than just xp,  and I think the personal relationship is the main factor in this games longevity....It seems more adults play this game than children, which I much prefer, (as they can actually spell lol), and it seems to be an outlet for even older adults, 50 and up.....They do say that 25% of the mmorph game market is 65 and older and that will probably increase as the baby bommers age....I dont think we are going to be sitting around, watching soap operas and biased, liberal news but having fun...

Of course I play  on one of the most active worlds on the server, which is Harvestgain, although they say Leafcull is active as well.   And it is important that you be a member of a clan that is really active, else you will really become bored, if you are not a self started and dont like to chat....I am in Karesta's clan on Harvestgain, so give me a tell if you ever come into that world!!!  The Game is also, what you make it, just like relationships...Although in a virtual world, you are probably more outgoing than in real life....Because you can turn the game off anytime you want to...

One Suggestion I do have for game developers is to give us the ability to fly, as in City of Heroes and to teleport.  I always got a charge out of gliding high above the buildings, when I was bored...

join a clan. Ac is still one of the best games released to date. Maybe some day a game will be released that lets the player decide how he wants to play the game. AC = freedom.

I think less people would play if it were free with LotRO or DDO. Would anyone from those games actually stay and play? I bet some would try AC, but few would stay. I think more AC players would be prone to convert to DDO or LotRO.

I would be in AC if they offered it as a all games pass like SOE Station Access. I already sub to DDO and LOTRO. I wouldn't mind every now and then to log into AC and see what has changed. Just depends on the mood I'm in, to which game I want to play.

If they made AC available with LotRO I would definitely play it now and then, even if only for reminiscence.  I miss killing Olthoi, and hunting for troves.

Thats very true.  But I played beta of LOTRO and it was an alright game.  AC is fun.  I just can't afford the monthly subscription atm.  Graduate school means penny pinching lol but boy AC is memories, specially towards the holidays like halloween.  Couldnt get enough of the costumes and masks...AC is brilliant for supplying monthly content.  When will others learn.
