If I would play (won't happen), I would select Empire. The evil side is the mainstream side, so I had to be a good aligned one. And I like neither elves nor dwarves, so only the Empire remains.
As far as balance goes, I'm guessing mythic will let it ride for the first couple months, then start doing xp bonuses to underdog side, increased loot drops, things of that nature to entice people to switch sides. That is what they did in DAOC at least.
Swordmasters have to be the biggest dissappointment in my book. I have a feeling the Dark Elves are just going to steam roll the High Elves on every server when it comes to race vs. race matchups.
These polls usually only show a very small fraction of what the games population is actually going to be. If anyone recalls these kind of polls before WoW, horde were always slated as being way over populated. But, as most of us know when the game came out there were almost 3:1 ratios (alliance:horde).
Chaos, but I would have voted for Greenskins if Chaos was represented by anything else but Tzeentch, it is the thinking mans Chaos aspect so to speak. I bet Slaanesh Chaos wouldn´t have been nearly as popular, not many wants to play androgyn perverts that enjoys pain . Nurgle worshippers are a bit hard to identify with, I mean spreading diseases and decay as goal in life?
Khorne is cool, but waaaaaay to onesided compared Tzeentch. I would rather plan some evil schemes to bring down the Empire than scream "Blood for the blood God!!!!" for the 100th time.

Strangely enough, I think that imbalance is why many people are going to the "dark" side this time.
I'm divided between the Greenskins and Chaos. Both seem like they will be tons of fun; one for irreverent hooliganism and the other for general bad-arse mutant action.

I doubt the knowledge of imbalance will have any bigger effects. The imbalance in WoW was at worst 3:1 in starter PvE realms, but it was rarely more balanced than 2:1 in Allliance favour in every new PvE realm started up until TBC was released and Blood Elfs became a playable race, despite it was a common knowledge that most player chosed Alliance for PvE.
Good-Evil wasn´t a big factor in WoW, Dwarfs and Gnomes despite being good was roughly as much played as the Taurens and Orcs, what caused the imbalance was the massive popularity of Humans and Night Elfs.
I can't choose yet. It is still a toss up between a Chaos Marauder and a Witch Hunter. Two different playing styles, but they both look like great fun. One has a sick hat and the other a grisly mutant-arm thingy.
The popularity of one side of each racial pairing seems to be inversely proportional to the popularity of the other side.
Dark Elves are the most popular, High Elves are the least.
Chaos is the second most popular, Empire is the second least.
Greenskins are the third most popular, Dwarfs are the third least.
I find it amazing it turned out like that, with no variation.
Also somewhat interesting is that the combined percentage of each racial pairing is ~30-35% for each, meaning roughly 1/3 of the population of these forums would be in each pairing (though Destruction would always outnumber Order), making the actual distribution across the pairings even.
Oh, and the High Elves are hooped - Dark Elves outnumber them 3:1.
P.S. Destruction seems to be holding steady at around 66% of the population.
I'm going Dwarf Iron Breaker most likely. But if my guild decides to do Destruction on lunch then I will be playing a Black Orc. What ever i do i'm being a tank.

No you're not weird. Considering the poll results up top and the desire that many people have to play a pet/ranged class, you should expect to see many SH's (and Engineer's on the other side).
Well I have played on pvp servers and seen what happends when sides get unbalanced. the side with the most people usely gets to go zerging across the country side killing a few people here and there but not much else. They may raid a city but they can never hold it for long because to many of them are not dedicated to the same goal. once they would get the enemy city most people would just leave because the under dogs know never fight the enemy head on. so with no one there to keep peoples intrest they would start leaving and look for some one to fight.
Meen while the underdog side is off some place else attacking the a target that is less defended and still has plenty of people to kill. And when the zerg shows up they scatter to strike again another day. Simply gurilla tactics.
Also as far as the Warhammer world is conserned i have alway felt it was Order that has alway been outnumbered but they aways seem to hold back the tide verse the Choas.
Now more then before i want to play a high elf Archmage. GO underdogs
I agree with Lewkas. High Elf Archmage all the way. I know order will be outnumbered but that is something, I hope, will attract people who like a challenge and being the underdog.
Swordmasters have to be the biggest dissappointment in my book. I have a feeling the Dark Elves are just going to steam roll the High Elves on every server when it comes to race vs. race matchups.
I am sure they will, assuming that the size of one's force matters a lot and zerging is possible, because I think Dark Elves will outnumber High Elves by at least 25%, and something nearing 100% would not surprise me.
Dark Elves always attract emos ("My life, like, sucks...I am so dark and misunderstood," says the middle-class white teen with an allowance) and horny people, which seem to make up a large percentage of players. Add in the normal people who happen to want to play Dark Elves, and you get a formidable force.
Good luck, High Elves. I'll be playing Empire (Knight of the Blazing Sun!) so I'll try to help out and fend off the sex-crazy goths.
Well, to be fair, High Elves attract people who want to be tree hugging pansy Legolas wanna-bes. While Dark Elves do attract horny people they also attract people whose mind stay on a path such as "omg 3lves wit DARK n DER NAME!!!11 dats KOOL!!11 Der r sooooo 3v1l n k00l lokin!!!!!!!!111". Thats the primary reason Dark Elves are going to be the most popular. And most people who have such a mind track usually don't understand that if a side is overwhelmed, they need to join the least popular side. It should be interesting to see how they balance this.
Oh and by the way, this is completely off-topic, but here is some bad news (for those who want to believe what I say). For any hardcore DAoC PvPers that are expecting DAoC PvP quality, I have to say that I feel bad for you. I am one of those people, and when I saw the game I was crushed. The UI is a complete and utter duplicate of Lotro's (which is a duplicate of WoW), and the fighting is almost an exact replica of WoW. The gameplay isn't even CLOSE to DAoC...
I understand that last paragraph is completely off topic, but im not going to make a thread about it and explain everything I witnessed.

I keep seeing people reference DAoC pvp as setting the pvp standard for mmorpg's. I've never played it, but even my brother has commented on DAoC pvp...
So what am I missing? What specifically is in DAoC pvp that isn't in this game? Not that I'm replying to an off-topic comment or anything......
And upon seeing the poll results, my main will definitely be Order. I was on the fence before, but underdog victories are always the sweetest.

I choose greenskin, i..i think green is in my blood.... h...help.....
RIP Orc Choppa
I'm still torn over this.
Greenskins seem plain fun.
Empire seems to have a breathtaking city.
Argh.

I plan to stay a loong time in this game, because im totally convinced already that it will be a ton of fun !
So I will play EVERY class. But I will definitely begin with the Black Orc !
I am going to try out each race. Probably stick with a Dark Elf or Choas.

To early to tell for me, will end up looking at videos and stats then eventually trying each out for myself.
so...
Im going for chaos chosen
DARK ELVES ALL THE WAY, GOTTA MAKE A HALF NEKED HEAVY METAL BITCH WITCH LOL

High Elf Archmage... the perfect class/race combo ... so glad they made the High Elf healer a nuker
Lewk- Healer of Legacy Gareth
McDee- Spiritmaster of Maelstrom Percival
Murgu- Skald of Mordred
I agree with Lewkas. High Elf Archmage all the way. I know order will be outnumbered but that is something, I hope, will attract people who like a challenge and being the underdog.
Whatever Class I play it will be High Elf. I enjoy being on the outnumbered side
