Having a hard time understanding how things work in GW

ziphiiziphii Member Posts: 17

Hello.  I have had GW:P and GW:Factions for over a year now, and I play from time to time.  But I don't know anyone else who plays, so I  have no one to show me around or help me figure things out.

I think I might end up really liking this game, but I'm afraid I don't understand the point of it.  I do quests, and hire henchies to help with them.

How do I upgrade my armor?  Do I have to wear that dress I picked in the creation screen forever?

What am I supposed to do with items I pick up?  Sell to vendor?  Use that package that breaks them into crafting components?

Can I go from one starting area to another?

How can I find good groups/guilds?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

How do I upgrade my armor? Do I have to wear that dress I picked in the creation screen forever? No. It can be upgraded in pre-searing but you will also be able to get a better armor once you get to Ascalon City, after pre-searing. During the game you will get across better armors. See Armor Types and armor for more information. What am I supposed to do with items I pick up? Sell to vendor? Use that package that breaks them into crafting components? If they are salvageable items you should use the salvage kit. If they on the other hand is usual weapons you should sell them if you don't need it.You may come across items of different rarity, the rarity goes like this: White (usual) - Blue (one modifier and sometimes worth saving) - Purple (now it's getting better, consider saving some of these if you're not sure if they are worth something) - Gold (always save these, and ask someone for help if they are worth something) - Green (only drops from bosses, will always sell for much. For more info see this.I'm pretty sure there is no green drops in pre-searing and they are uncommon, so you'll probably come across them later into the game when you know more about them. Can I go from one starting area to another? If you started in the first campaign (prophecies) you can't go anywhere except pre-searing (the name of the starting area). When you've finished pre-searing (doing that "there is no turning back quest" ) you can after a bit of questing and so on get to the other campaigns (and their starting areas), if you have the campaigns that is.You won't be able to get to other starting areas when you still are below lvl 20, so if you wanted to go lvl up at another starting area, you must start a new character there. How can I find good groups/guilds?
If you're in need of a group just scream "lfp" and you will probably get some group. If it's a mission you won't need to say more than lfp, if it's for a specific quest say "lfp: *quest name*".Any advice is appreciated.
    Thanks!

OK, thanks for the help, guys.  I guess I kind of see what to do.  Maybe I should just focus on getting a character to 20, and then I can see more of the world and figure out how and what to sell.  Training skills doesn't get costly, does it?

It can do. The money is increased every time you buy a new skill, but never mind that on your new character. You usually don't need to buy so many skills in prophecies.
