I was thinking of buying the pre release Eye of the North off of ebay for about 8 bucks. My question is if the three in game items you get from it worth much, alot of pre release items are only good for starter levels and then just take up room in your inventory after that.

Not for that much, i went to my local GAME here in the UK to see if they had any left for a couple of guildies and they just gave them to me...
Cool, wish the vendors around here did that instead of just send them back.
they're ok.
I believe they are all max stat weapons with req.9, where one or two of them needs some extra inscriptions added to make them do anything good.
I normally add them to my heroes, to make things easier than using my gold or time on them.
As for inventory space, not a problem
delete them!
...and type /bonus when ever you want them back
all special items will pop up into your inventory (customized to you so no other character other than your own personal heroes can use them)
and if by "worth much" you also mean sell value, it would be zero, since no one can use the items except your characters.
Note: if you type /bonus to get the weapons and you're holding one of the bonus weapons, the weapon you're holding wont show up in your inventory since you're holding it. This is important if you want to add the same weapon to a hero. All you need to do is give the weapon to your hero first, then type /bonus again to give it to yourself
That is a good thing to know, I didn't realize you could delete them and get them back at anytime by typing /bonus thanks for that info.
Most games that offer in-game items work that way.
Does this work across characters? For example, I want to give all my characters and their heroes the same set of stuff?

It works on all charactersjust give a weapon you want multiple times to heroes and then make another witht he /bonus command and bingo, free hero weapons
I think the guy who was selling that game for 8 buck is a dumb ass where you can buy the game in the in-game shop for a couple of few bucks.
lol j/k
Anywayz, I'm not too sure what you mean by "that's the point". If you're referring to the comment about pre-release items being only good for starter levels and taking up inventory, those two situations were already mentioned not to be the case for EotN pre-release items, and according to Yodal, most games as well.
