Well, i tried Ryzom trial long time ago and i really liked the environement, the tree skill system was awesome, and except by some minor issues i had a good experience but the failed attempt to convince some friends to join the game and i was most of the time alone made i didnt get pass trial island :S
But now i would like to give it another try and get past directly out of the trial island, however first i would like to know how is PvP in Ryzom, i come from playing DAoC, EvE and other games i'd prefer not to remember :P
Would mainly like to know if PvP community is kinda active or just at peak times, and what it islike, (which other game does have a similar pvp system)...
thanks in advance

The PvP in Ryzom comes in different forms:
1. Usual duels system
2. Arena for free form PvP
3. GvG in certain parts of the mainland (Prime Roots)
4. FvF to control Outposts spread all over the planet or just becaus eyou tag yourself.
You have the choice to be involved or not in PvP.
Outside the Arena, you can tag yourself to do a free PvP everywhere with and againsts other tagged players.
Some region in Prime Roots (and a special forest region called Nexus) are GvG enabled when you enter, so it's up to you adventure in these regions or not.
Altough Outposts War were developed with GvG in mind, the players turned it into FvF, due to the fact that Guilds of the opposing faction just allied to control the war better.
Outposts Wars are managed with a different tag, valid only during an Outpost War and only in the area of the Outpost. The area became active to PvP after a war declaration to that Outpost (this is similar to Anarchy Online Notum War, but the PvP mechanic is totally different other than that). A player roaming near a 'declared Outpost' can choose to be neutral and pass the area safety out of any PvP action.
To enjoy fully of the PvP in Ryzom, you should join one of the 2 factions, Kami or Karavan.
If you stay neutral, you will not be able to tag yourself for a free PvP everywhere, but still you can participate in the Outposts War, joining the battle for defence or for attack depending on your relations with the players involved in the defence and attack.
Also, as neutral you will miss the faction chat channel, maybe the best channel to make friends and annoucing yourself in the world. It is also a good place to search for teams.
I was in the past more PvE oriented than PvP so i can't tell you about DaoC i played few time. For sure the PvP here is not as EvE, being there an heavy 'tactical' behaviour (except if you go soloing as bounty hunter)
Consider that, having no classes in Ryzom, every player can play as wanted, also changing skills, so one time u killed a 'mage' you can be killed by the same player acting as a melee warrior, if he got the skill. Last, the way you can personalize your skills turns Ryzom as a game with a 'unique' PvP system, where unpredictable results are always expected.
Most PvP actions come in Outpost battles, actually, involving not only 'the action' but some politics too. If you want to be able to attend at Outposts battles early, best choice is to raise the 'healing' skill first, that can be used also at lower levels.
Go to official forum and read posts there to better understand.

While I see how poeple might find some Fun in PvP, can anybody please explain to me why in the last few month all of a sudden more and more PvP Questions are asked around here?
It sadenes me to think that all Players care about these days is PvP and how to be "the best" and not all other things a good game is about.

Do you dare to adapt?
This is only a guess but I would say its because PvP is something that the majority of online gamers are interested in these days (along with quests). An increase in interest in the game (ie more players looking at the game) would therefore naturally draw more questions on a subject that a large percentage of all online gamers are interested in.
