Vanguard - Has the performance improved ?

Hi....

Iam looking to have a break from EQ2 before the expansion comes out and was just wondering if the performance of vanguard has improved as the game was mostly unplayable on my rig at launch . i think it has real potential....

other than that can anyone recommend lineage 2 at all for a change ?

thanks .

I think the clue that SONY feels the game is ready for prometime will be their marketing of the game. They expected that would start in the fall.As you know some have made the decisoon that the game is ok...for them...and others feel it is not.For me the game needs to be made FAR more solo friendly and the crafting redone before I will reconsider.

I still say that Vanguard should still be in late Alpha early Beta.

If it was "mostly unplayable" on your rig then, it probably still is. It really depends on your rig. You did not leave your system specs so who knows. There is minor performance improvment but thats about it. I can run it pretty well but I had to fiddle with it for about a week.

SOE might get it more stable and at least reasonable performance for moderate / higher end systems but the game will always need a beefy rig to run it, no way around that. Even though its made with the same engine as Lineage 2 (Unreal 2), its modifications are just a flat out mess.

Your other question, Lineage 2 is a great game depending on your taste. You have to have a pretty high tolerance to grinding but if you are serious and can get into a good guild and become involved with the politics and community, L2 is unmatched in that respect. If you plan on soloing throughout and being a lone wolf and don't like the idea of open PvP, save your money, its a waste of your time. L2 is a very frustrating game for those types of players, its a community driven game.

I soloed in L2 up until 54 with a Paladin.  I quit because I lost my weapon (I accidentally went red on a bot).  An SLS is difficult to replace when you're broke and alone.

Ouch, case in point I guess.

How long ago was that? They changed the drop odds in the last update I think, its like a bizillion to one you drop an equipped weapon now days, especially if you are under 5pk's. You hardly drop at all in that case.

LoL, "accident"...... I hunted bots also back when whites dropped to agro.....never killed one by "accident" You know, I gotta resist the urge to resub to L2 on a weekly basis.....

    thegeez,

Performance has improved, but there's still work to be done (chunking could be smoother). Like one of the posters said, it all depends on your rig. If it's somewhat decent, you should be ok. Otherwise, I would save your money, and make upgrades to your system, and wait for update #3 and the Trial, and see for yourself.

Performance was doing a lot better, but the recent update (and merge) have slowed it down a LOT, and menus are loading super funny.

As for Lineage 2 - I recommend you try it, but I caution you that it's ROUGH to solo, and it's really a hit-or-miss type of game.  The good news is, they've been revamping the newbie and soloer experiences.  Newbies have a full tutorial now, and some monsters can drop special items for soloers.

Performance is pretty poor for me mainly in cities. I really struggle then. My biggest issue is the massive amounts of CTD's im currently experienceing since returning last week. Still, I am enjoying the game regardless.
